↯”Nearby Aegis agents, please report to Uptown! There have been reports of open fire on Fifth Street! Three men dressed in black are armed and threatening citizens. Please be advised that the arms they are carrying are enhanced plasma machine guns. Avoid collateral damage, and prioritize citizen life!”↯
[break][break]
Came over the intercoms of any nearby Heroes within a 20-mile radius of Uptown. The responder’s voice seemed much more urgent than usual and for good reason; The Blue Tigers, a malicious gang group seeded deep within the roots of Wayport City had found a way to get their hands on very dangerous firearms. [break][break]
“Bahaha! Lets see these bitches run like mice! Pew, pew!” [break][break]
One of the men in black pulled down on the trigger of his weapon, haphazardly firing rays of cyan plasma in all directions. The beams hit the walls of corner stores and nearby street signs, disintegrating its material within a blink of an eye. Screaming onlookers began to sprawl across the streets and sidewalks, doing their best to frantically free from the incoming danger… [break][break]
[break][break]
Not far away, a girl in a red hoodie had been casually walking down the street a few blocks away from the scene. Underneath the hood of the red fabric of her top did her tanuki ears twitch. [break][break]
”Do my ears deceive me?” Kyoko Hamasaki whispered to herself, cocking her head to the side with confusion. She could have sworn she heard faint screams nearby. [break][break]
Well, any doubts of hers were promptly confirmed. Up ahead, a stampede of citizens were running in her direction. The girl clenched her teeth and quickly stepped aside into an alley, letting the spooked humans run past. Their screams were followed by the sound of property destruction. After a loud explosion, Kyoko witnessed a large tree that had once been adorning a nearby coffee shop burst into fragments of wood and burnt leaves. A shudder ran down her spine and Kyoko winced. [break][break]
She felt that one. [break][break]
Now, it was personal.
[break][break]
Quickly, Kyoko threw off her hoodie which revealed her Hero costume. The girl was decked in obsidian and was adorned like a noble ninja. She was still getting used to this new suit given to her by her senior overseer back at Aegis Headquarters. A little tight, but it had very useful utilities. It was much more durable than her Older outfit... [break][break]
Suited up now, Kyoko -- Now Kunoichi-Chan -- quickly ran out onto the scene. She slipped a few seeds out of a compartment hidden within her sleeve, and threw out a selection of large, plant-based shurikens. Her target was able to dodge the first two, but the third impaled his gun, and the fourth caught onto the fabric of his pant leg, pinning him down into a kneel. [break][break]
”Stop this chaos at once!” Kunoichi declared aloud, pointing an accusatory finger at the man. ”I, Kunoichi-Chan, will make sure you spend a long time in prison!” [break][break]
The restrained man kissed his teeth with annoyance. Of course a damn super would get in his way! [break][break]
Luckily, his other two acquaintances had his back. Running forward, they began to open fire on anyone who opposed them!

Kaiden yawned as he strolled down the street towards his favorite coffee shop. The middle of the afternoon and he was already exhausted. Not that he was surprised, Kaiden had been pushing himself pretty hard this past week. Staying up late and training until the crack of dawn.
[break][break]
Thank god for coffee. Kaiden wouldn't have been able to function without it. He'd practically been living off the stuff for the past week and a half. Which probably wasn't great for him, but neither was passing out in the middle of the day. [break][break]
He couldn't have been more than a block away from the shop when his phone vibrated. The message from Aegis flashed across the screen as he pulled it from his pocket. Not that Kaiden needed the alert with the sudden wave of bystanders that came barreling at him. Side-stepping out of their way, Kaiden took off in the direction they were coming from. [break][break]
Arriving shortly after her, Kaiden watched as Kunoichi-Chan disabled one of the assailants with her powers. Quickly, he linked his current feeling of exhaustion to Kyoko's plant manipulation. A risky move but with the other gunmen opening fire it was his only choice. Kaiden reached out with one of his hands and attempted to ensnare one of the gunmen in vines.[break][break]
What he got instead was a concentrated blast of green-energy from his palm that slammed into one of the firing gunmen. Kaiden watched the man go flying into a nearby building. "Wow." he said tiredly and moved up to Kyoko's right, "Plant stuff and energy beams? What an impressive power." Kaiden gave a quick smile before becoming serious. "Before we kick your assess, are you sure you don't want to surrender?" [break][break]
Sarah stepped out of her private car. Just as her morning had started, a few goons had decided to have their fun playing with guns. And unfortunately, their weapons were too advanced for regular police to handle – which meant that she had been called into duty. Flipping her hair, she readied a battle stance. [break] Fortunately, two of her coworkers – an animal girl and a plain boy – had arrived before she had, and no-one had appeared to have died yet. Sarah scoured her memory for their codenames; she didn’t care and it wasn’t important now, but it might’ve been useful for when this was over. Which it would be in short order. [break] “I’d listen to my male cohort if I were you,” she said, her expression blank. “I’d really rather not get anything on this new suit – it’s designer. Not that rubes like you would understand what that means.”
[attr="class","yuki-text"]As the men approached with their rapid-fire, eagle wings sprouted from Kunoichi-Chan’s back. With a light-footed jump, she took into the air and dodged the incoming plasma. What didn’t hit her crashed into the dark pavement instead, sending chunks of road and stone into the air. The tanuki-girl clenched her teeth as she observed the damage it had done to their immediate vicinity. The blast left a massive pothole in the ground. [break][break]
She needed to find a way to disable their weapons, and quickly. [break][break]
Perhaps she didn’t need to go about the endeavor alone, though. Kyoko blinked in surprise when suddenly, a ray of emerald-colored energy launched out of seemingly nowhere, blasting at one of her opponents. She narrowed her eyes-- that looked a lot like one of her own abilities! [break][break]
Her ears flicked and her attention was brought to the ground below. A boy she didn’t recognize had come to the scene, presumably a hero. Kyoko landed back onto the ground, looking up at him with wide, intrigued eyes. Her short stature and inquisitive expression made her look quite cute on top of her fuzzy features. [break][break]
“Thanks… But isn’t that an odd thing to say if you can manipulate plant things too?” She asked a little confusedly. [break][break]
But once again, Kyoko’s attention was quickly taken elsewhere. A woman of shimmering blonde hair stepped into the fray. Another hero, presumably, and of the highfaluting breed, too. Her statement got an abashed chuckle and a raised eyebrow out of Kyoko. Being a Hero was a messy job in itself, no? Wasn’t a bit of dirt on one’s suit to be expected? [break][break]
There was no time for silly musings, though. The gunmen regrouped, the third and unhinged man blasting the first out of his snared position. The second gunman got back up to his feet and walked to the side of his comrades. [break][break]
“Tch. I hate these Supers. Always gettin’ in our way!” One of them grumbled, cocking his gun, “well, let’s see you all dance with your fancy little powers!” [break][break]
All three began blasting at the large building behind the three. Thanks to the plasma, the office building began to crumble at its foundation. The workers inside began to scream and commotion brewed. [break][break]
“Gah! No!” Kunoichi shouted. The building swayed and threatened to collapse which would compromise the lives of the civilians inside. [break][break]
“I’ll try to keep the building up! You guys-- try to stop their fire!” She exclaimed. Kunoichi spread her wings and flew into the air, catching some of the falling civilians. She threw out a few seeds as well which grew into ginormous vines. They wrapped their way around the building, attempting to keep its crumbling foundation upright. [break][break]

Plant manipulation, energy beams, and she could sprout wings at a moment's notice? Kyoko definitely had some impressive powers under her belt.[break][break]
"Wait...can I grow wings now too?" he made a mental note to try when things weren't so sticky.[break][break]
Kaiden scratched at his cheek embarrassingly as Kyoko questioned him, "I actually couldn't do any of that up until a few seconds ago." he yawned. Why'd this have to go down when he was exhausted? It was definitely going to give everyone the wrong first impression. [break][break]
"You're really worried about your suit?" Kaiden asked, looking slightly irritated as he turned to face the blonde newcomer. "I- he yawned again, "I hope you're not serious." Kaiden had more to say but the gunmen interrupted him.[break][break]
Kaiden turned immediately to the building behind him once they began to shoot, "Shit, this isn't good." without thinking, his body moved towards the office. The young hero stopped in his track, however, at the sight of Kyoko flying past him. In what seemed like one swift motion, she caught the falling civilians and momentarily halted the building's collapse.[break][break]
"Hell yeah, way to go racoon-girl!" he shouted, pumping his fist in the air with a smile. "We'll put these bastards down quickly!" Kaiden cracked his knuckles and turned to the gunmen with an irritated and tired frown. "Time to bring the pain." he made a beeline towards the closest thug. Moving faster than normal, Kaiden closed the distance between them in seconds and slammed his shoulder into the man.[break][break]
The man went flying into a telephone pole with enough force to send cracks running up it. "Enhanced speed and strength too?" there was a lot more to this power than he thought. The thugs didn't give Kaiden time to think about what else he was capable of, however. They opened fire on Kaiden's position shortly after he tackled their comrade.[break][break]
Instinctively he tried to lunge out of the way but his exhaustion got the better of him. A stray bolt of plasma slammed into his left shoulder and a searing pain shot through his arm.[break][break]
"Fuck that stings!" he winced and ducked behind a piece of rubble. He was definitely going to have a gnarly burn scar on his shoulder when this healed. "Hey racoon-girl!" Kaiden called out, "Random question but how are you doing that thing with the planets? I tried to do it earlier but it didn't work. I feel like I'm missing something." weird time to Q&A but he needed to know.[break][break]
At Kunochi’s command, Sarah nodded. Stymieing the attacks was priority, to prevent casualties – and as Sarah had heard once, the best defense was a good offense. Power surged through Sarah’s body; her eyes glowed blue, and a golden aura manifested around her. This would be over in a second. [break] With Cosmic Mode now activated, Sarah rushed directly towards the gunmen, a fist pulled back. She ducked and swung at the nearest gunman’s stomach, aiming directly for his vitals – she’d poured in just enough force to knock him unconscious, hopefully without killing him. After all, she couldn’t afford blood on her new suit; it was so hard to clean out.
[attr="class","yuki-text"]”Ehm, I’m actually a Tanuki-- But I suppose that’s not important at this moment,” Kyoko replied as she touched ground, quickly ushering the civilians she’d caught away from the scene. The rest still in the building hurriedly ran out, not wanting to fall victim to their office place that was now crumbling at its base. [break][break]
About that-- [break][break]
”Agh!” The animal-girl grumbled, her attention refocusing on the deteriorating foundation. She clenched her hands, tightening the roots around it. This was no good. They needed to deal with these criminals quickly before her energy completed drained! [break][break]
Her ears flicked when she heard a yelp of pain. Kyoko looked back to see a slightly injured Kaiden, however, he’d successfully knocked out his opposing gunman. The man in black slumped onto the ground, unconscious.
Kyoko gritted her teeth and quickly rushed over, back to the side of her heroic comrades. Her vines were tight enough for now, so she decided to focus her efforts back to the main issue at hand. With a concerned pout, the fluffy tanuki maiden hunkered down to the dark-haired male’s side. She inspected the area where the plasma had hit him. [break][break]
”I hope it’s not too bad,” She spoke in a hushed tone, spreading out her palms. A lime green glow coated them and she placed them onto the area of impact, slowly healing the wound to new. [break][break]
”As for the plants… You must act as if you’re apart of it. Feel the vines and branches outstretch from the tips of your fingers… and then strike!” [break][break]
Meanwhile, Cosmic-Mode Sarah’s fist rammed right into the abdomen of one of the criminal gunman. He gagged before the force of the strike followed through, sending him crashing into the ground. He coughed and lay flat on the ground, unconscious as well. [break][break] That left one more gunman. Desperate now, he cranked a dial on the powerful weapon, applying its maximum blasting capability. With a crazed grin on his face, he held tight onto the gun and fired an array of beams more powerful than the rest. They incinerated trees on the spot and turned marble into ash. He swung the beam’s fire toward Sarah first before aiming at Kaiden and Kunoichi! [break][break]

[attr="class","ayab-text"] "It stings, but it's nothing I can't handle." he smiled confidently at Kyoko, hoping to ease her concern. When she got closer to inspect the wound regardless, Kaiden blushed. "Really, you don’t need too..." his voice cut off, the sudden glow of her hands catching him off guard. Kaiden quietly watched as she placed her hands onto his injured shoulder. A few seconds later, and the pain disappeared.[break][break]
"Wow," Kaiden looked at Kyoko in awe, "That's amazing, you're amazing." and now he felt bad for calling her a raccoon. He would have to apologize once they dealt with the gunmen. Speaking of the gunmen, Kaiden stood up from the rubble to check on Sarah.[break][break]
He caught a glimpse of the blonde dealing the knock-out blow to one of the thugs. Kaiden whistled, "Nice! That just leaves one left for us to deal with." but that didn't mean it would be easy. Criminals were often more dangerous when they were backed into a corner. A lesson Kaiden was about to learn the hard way.[break][break]
The dial of his gun cranked up to the max. The surrounding area didn't stand a chance against the gunmen's plasma beams. With little time to think, Kaiden was forced to rely on his instincts.[break][break]
Keeping Kyoko's advice in mind, Kaiden extended his arm and reached out to the nearby plant-life. For a moment, it would seem as though he failed only for a lime-green aura to surrounded his body.[break][break]
Created from Kunoichi-chan's discarded shuriken, two barriers of thorny vines grew in front of Sarah and Kaiden. The plasma bolts hit the barriers, reducing them to ash but preventing the heroes from taking any damage.[break][break]
Kaiden collapsed to his knees, sapped of energy and panting heavily.[break][break]
Sarah was about as prepared for the blast as Kaiden – that is, not at all. Had it not been for Kaiden’s quick thinking, she could’ve been maimed or worse. After that blast, a few specks of dust on her suit didn’t seem too bad at all.
She was equally unprepared for the protective barriers manifesting in front of her. Once they disintegrated, her first instincts were to look at Kaiden – if someone didn’t do something, he’d be a dead man for sure. Kicking up dirt, Sarah sprinted forth and tackled Kaiden, hopefully moving them both out of harm’s way for the time being.
[attr="class","yuki-text"]Like a deer startled by the blinding headlights of an oncoming semi-trailer, Kyoko found herself frozen in the face of the massive blast barrelling their way. With such speed and destructive power, the ninja hero wasn’t even sure what to do! At a loss, she was overcome by shock. The mutant or not, the human body wasn’t any different than any other mammalian animal; as danger presented itself, her options were fight, flight, or freeze. With tense muscles and clenched fangs, it was clear she had unknowingly chosen the latter option. [break][break]
But, thankfully, in the face of all odds, two heroes launched themselves into the fray. First came Kaiden, who managed to use the advice given to him to create a protective barrier against the first incoming blast. The residual smoke from the burnt plant construct was enough to snap Kyoko back from her stupor. [break][break]
Sarah expertly swooped in afterward, consequently pushing both herself, Kaiden, and Kyoko away from the line of fire. The blue blast of plasma crashed into a building elsewhere, gaping a whole straight through the construction. Thankfully, all the civilians inside had long since escaped. [break][break]
Unfortunately for the evildoer, it seemed as if his last stand had exerted too much strain on his weapon. The blaster began to short circuit, crackling with electricity. Frightened, he quickly dropped the gun and it cracked as it hit the pavement below. [break][break]
Kyoko coughed and picked herself up from the ground. She opened her emerald eyes. These two heroes had essentially saved her! [break][break]
It was time to pick up her own weight. The gunman-since-disarmed shrieked and began to scramble away in the opposite direction. [break][break]
”Hey! You’re not going anywhere!” [break][break]
Kyoko got onto her feet-- feet that suddenly coated themselves in a cyan aura. Her legs morphed into ones of a cheetah, and she sprinted forward. Quickly catching up with the villain, Kyoko leapt head-first and morphed again, ears turning into the horns of a ram. With a headbutt, she knocked him clean onto the ground. [break][break]
Apprehending him, Kyoko quickly turned one of her seeds into chloro-handcuffs. [break][break]
The suspect was down, and his accomplices were down for the count. [break][break]
Kyoko turned back at the other two heroes. ”Thank you, guys! You really saved me back there,” She acknowledged, giving a brief nod of thanks to the both of them. She got the gunman onto his feet and dragged him forward. [break][break]
”We should get these guys to the Aegis police station, stat.” She mused. ”Ah-- What are you two’s names? I’m Kunoichi-Chan.”

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Saved from any repeat attacks from the thug by Sarah, Kaiden thanked her while still struggling to catch his breath. "Thanks a ton miss." he smiled weakly. His eyelids suddenly feeling a lot heavier now that the situation had calmed down. He gave a quick glance over to Kyoko. She was currently putting the cuffs on all the thugs and wrapping things up.[break][break]
She said something about waiting for Aegis but Kaiden couldn't quite make it out. The world around him was starting to get a little fuzzy, had he really used up that much energy?[break][break]
"Hey, I don't...feel so....goo-" his consequences left him before he could finish. The young hero collapsed onto the ground lost in a world of dreams.
Once she was sure that the other partner had neutralized the thugs, Sarah let go of Kaiden. She turned around, ready to engage – but by then, Kyoko had already defeated the two. Sighing, Sarah wiped her brow of sweat. She was pretty sure that she’d gotten more than a little dirt on her suit, but she didn’t really care.
Just then, her partner collapsed onto the floor – clearly, the fight had been too much for him. Immediately, Sarah’s instincts kicked in, and she grabbed Kaiden; soon, she was cradling him in her arms. She took his pulse – fortunately, he was still alive.
“We’ve got a man down!” she said, yelling at Kyoko. “Get a medic now!”
