“A-Ah!” [break][break]
Kyoko gasped. She could feel the grips of the netted trap she was encased in loosen. When she moved slightly, volts of energy did not surge through her muscles. She was free, thanks to the efforts of this miniature lady. She had deactivated the obnoxious netting. [break][break]
”Arigato, thank you,” Kyoko quickly spoke. The yokai-girl used the clawed tips of her fingers to rip away at the trap and quickly got to her feet. She had been expecting an immediate reaction by her captors, but it would seem as if these hoolum’s attention had been swept up by another newcomer. The blue-haired woman was toe to toe with the two masked men. She had successfully dodged the gunman’s round of fire and quickly dealt with the gauntleted man. [break][break]
But the gunman was still awake and very well after blood. Elena had fired but the gunman dodged, and was about to pull his trigger once more. [break][break]
”Ah, no!” Kyoko shouted. Cyan-green aura flourished its way from her body. Kyoko motioned her hands forward and various large roots of underground plants sprouted up from the pavement and entrapped the gunman before he could shoot another shot. [break][break]
The roots held onto him tight with significant might, squeezing at this man’s body. The pressure forced him to drop his weapon. He was now, ironically, trapped by the same person who was initially his prey. [break][break]
”Alright, that’s enough! I don’t care what you have against me, but all of this is uncalled for!” Kyoko exclaimed, clenching her fangs. Her emerald gaze did falter from this villain, however, to take a look at the blue-haired woman and where she assumed the tiny Aegis agent must have been. [break][break]

Kyoko, still on her side, took in a breath. She couldn’t panic. If she moved any more desperately, not only would she lose her cool, but her actions would be accompanied by quite the wave of voltage as well. Emerald-colored eyes peered forward. They may have been near the pier, but that didn’t mean that there wasn’t any plant or animal life around. If she concentrated on her energy well, Kyoko knew she could manipulate her surroundings to aid her in an escape plan. [break][break]
”Huh?” [break][break]
Her ears perked to attention. Through the vibrations in the ground, Kyoko’s keen sense could feel that something was approaching. It was tiny, very tiny actually, but not small enough to go unnoticed. She couldn’t see anything though-- [break][break]
Until she did. [break][break]
Kyoko blinked in disbelief. Was she seeing things correctly? It appeared as if a miniature human was standing right in front of her face. She poked it too! [break][break]
Kyoko listened to her speak. Oh, so she must have been an Aegis operative! One of the, uh, very tiny variety. Kyoko blinked her approval, too afraid of nodding and setting off the electric trap. The plan was basic enough. [break][break]
The tanuki girl kept silent as the tiny doctor went to work. But, before long, a blue-haired stranger entered the fray, armed with a pistol. [break][break]
Given that Leblanc was speedy in her work, she would have found a small box (large, relative to her own shrunken size), that appeared to be controlling the voltage of the net. There was a switch to shut it off. She just needed to push the button. [break][break]
”Hey!” One of the masked menaces shouted back at the blue-haired stranger. ”This ain’t none of your business! Scram, lil’ lady!” [break][break]
Two of the men were armed. One with a close range weapon-- an intricate set of gauntlets on his fists. The other armed with a plasma-gun. [break][break]
The gunman began to shoot towards Elena in hopes of forcing her to have to take cover. The gauntleted man came soon after, attempting to rush the woman. [break][break]
”Ah!” Kyoko exclaimed, eyes widening. More people were getting involved; more people had the possibility of getting hurt. [break][break]
Kyoko had also come to a realization: the weapon models these crooks were armed with were quite similar to the threesome she and Kaiden had dealt with a few days prior. These men must have been the arrested ones’ lackeys.

”Hey, hey, let me go!” [break][break]
”Looks like we found that new little rat Aegis imported from Japan. D’aw, she looks so cute trapped up like this!” [break][break]
Well, Kyoko had found herself in quite the dilemma. It started off as a normal day roaming about Savvy Shores. The heroine had gone out to take a walk to clear her mind; she had much to think about, after all! Only a few days ago had she been recruited by Victory to join his teenage hero team. He had been rude when he approached her, but he did have a point: Having a new team composed of young heroes would surely give a new, good outlook on the new age of supers to everyday citizens. [break][break]
”Ugh, I didn’t even do anything wrong to your guys! Why are you trapping me like this?” [break][break]
Back to reality. A group of masked men in dark clothing had caught the tanuki-girl off guard while she was walking near a sidewalk, heading towards one of the dock-side shops within Savvy Shores. They had all rushed her at once, dragged her to an alley, and trapped her in an electric net. Every time she squirmed or struggled, the strange trap would send unpleasant shocks coursing through her body. [break][break]
Kyoko lay on her side on the dirty ground of the alleyway, entangled in the electric net. She was dressed in her casual clothing -- she had not anticipated to be crime fighting today. [break][break]
They didn’t answer her question. Actually, they kicked her when she did so, causing the yokai-girl to yelp at the pain directed to her left shoulder. [break][break]
”Shut up you little rat! You know what you did!” [break][break]
Kyoko drew her ears back with displeasure. What the hell were these crooks talking about? [break][break]
Well, that wasn’t the biggest of her worries right now. She needed to untangle herself from this net and apprehend the people assaulting her. But with this electric current threatening to shock her with high voltage with her every movement… It might be a task she’d need a little assistance with.
Kyoko muttered to herself as she was still suspended in the air. She needed to keep a cool head were she to keep all of her constructs active and efficient. With her chloro-wall now up and armed, the tanuki-girl was manipulating a construct whose size was larger than what she was used to dealing with. But it was an important asset, nonetheless; it was the thing keeping these aliens from trekking any further into Uptown. It was their last means of defense if her allies went down. [break][break]
It was in her hands: she needed to keep these citizens safe with all her might. [break][break]
More Harmatites rained down from the sky, now installing some weird, polar-shaped machine into the ground. Kyoko didn’t know what they were but she didn’t like the way they looked. [break][break]
”Looks like something good to bust,” She muttered to herself before focusing on her energy. Sharp-ended vines jutted out from the wall she’d created. Like snakes, they slithered forward through cracks in the pavement before suddenly lurching upwards from the ground, attempting to wrap their way around one of the pillars. Some vines would try to pull the pillar downward with considerable force, others using their sharp ends to mercilessly pierce through the unfamiliar technology. [break][break]
If the Harmatite soldiers weren’t fond of Kyoko’s attempt, these vines would redirect their focus onto the bug-invaders, moving to attack them instead.
[attr="class","yuki-text"]It was an eerie evening in the dark allies of Gotanda. Streetlights flickered unsettlingly down the corridor. The road forward was littered with potholes of which were filled with muddy grime. The walls of the alley were stained and reeked strongly of alcohol. [break][break]
Kyoko gulped. There was no doubt that they were here. [break][break]
”I forgot how much I hated this place...”
[break][break]
A cool breeze washed over Kyoko’s pelt as she and her newly-made acquaintance made their way towards where Kyoko believed their target, Mechanoman, must have been hiding. While it may have been an initial visit for Sun-Hi, Kyoko could recall this place like the back of her hand. Several years ago, when she’d first been converted into her pseudo-Yokai body, Kyoko had actually been kidnapped by practitioners of black magic and brought here to be examined. She could only assume that they wanted to use her magical body as a vessel for some strange spells and works of dark art. [break][break]
Before they got very far, however, she was saved by a local heroine and brought back to her rightful home. [break][break]
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that experience was the determining factor of Kyoko striving to become an Aegis hero. She desired to save vulnerable citizens like she had once been and would be loath to see a bunch of no-gooders get things their way. [break][break]
Armed with her powers, Kyoko knew that this was her destiny. [break][break]
”A-Ah, right,” [break][break]
The tanuki-girl had unconsciously stopped and stared forward blankly at her surroundings for a few moments as she recalled the past. She shook her head and cleared her throat. This was no time to be reminiscing. [break][break]
”There’s a secret hatch forward. We can get in through there,” Kyoko directed, pointing a claw to what would seem to be a manhole cover to the untrained eye. ”The lair-bar is down below. That’s where many Villains and Anti-Heroes like to mingle and discuss their plans. We can go in there without much issue so long as we look the part. Hence, the dress--” [break][break]
Kyoko motioned to the red gown that adorned her body. It was one of her favorites, the sort she’d only save for special occasions. It was a shame it needed to be utilized for such a bothersome task. [break][break]
”But yeah. All we need to do is sneak in, get Mechanoman isolated, round him up, and beat it,” The teen described. But it was almost certain that the task would be much more complex than a quick snatch and grab. They needed to navigate their way around Villains without being picked out. [break][break]
Kyoko crouched down, uncovering the manhole. [break][break]

”M-Mechanoman? Err…”
[break][break]
Like a confused puppy, Kyoko tilted her head to the side and scratched the fur coating the outside her ear with an index claw. She furrowed her brows and tried to recall the name. There were many sorts all about Tokyo and Japan proper, so to pinpoint a single name was not the easiest task. [break][break]
”Mechanoman,” The tanuki-girl repeated again, ”I think I might have heard that alias on the news somewhere. I think he might have been some sort of lousy underground tech-thug. I think he might have been responsible for a nearly city-wide blackout a few months back,” Kyoko explained. ”Y’know, petty Villain things. Never been a serious threat.” [break][break]
Emerald eyes gazed forward, eyeing the many scraps and hunks of metal junk that littered the streets and sidewalks of Taito City. [break][break]
”...Until now, I suppose. You’re right, it’s best we start an investigation of some sort.” [break][break]
Kyoko turned up from the ground to look at Sunny -- or at least where she assumed she was under the mecha’s tinted glass. [break][break]
”I think I know a place we might want to look,” Kyoko began, ears perking up with enthusiasm once more, ”There are some shady bars hidden in the depths of the Gotanda District. And when I say ‘depths’, I really mean it. They’re underground, we’ll need to find a sort of entrance,” Kyoko chuckled, rubbing the fur behind her neck abashedly. ”A lot of villains go there to discuss matters amongst themselves and make illegal deals with each other. I have a feeling that if he’s Mechanoman had suddenly decided to do something as big as this, he must be plotting something maniacal with other villains. We should catch them in the act before they can go any further!” [break][break]
The teen’s tail swayed from side to side with excitement. Yes, this could be good! If she were able to take down a threat undercover, Aegis would surely give her many accolades, right? [break][break]
But it wasn’t something she could do on her own. [break][break]
”What do you think? It might be dangerous, but it would be a good plan of action.”
Kyoko's progression in the ways of Yokai summoning and spirit communication has attracted a particular Yokai who calls himself Akimitsu. A Yokai banished from his home and left with a curse that seals is true power, Akimitsu seeks out a host to create a pact in an attempt to not only reclaim his lost power but to stop to the growing number of radical lone-Yokai who wish to conquer the human realm.
Akimitsu forms a familiar Yokai bond with Kyoko, allowing her to summon him at her will. While independent from Kyoko in terms of physical movement and will, he is sworn to protect Kyoko and physically cannot hurt her, lest their magical pact become broken. Akimitsu is a stubborn spirit and is by no means forced to listen to Kyoko so long as she is not in danger.
When active in combat, Akimitsu and Kyoko share a spiritual bond. Damage inflicted on Akimitsu is always reflected in Kyoko, but to a lesser extent, and vice versa. However, if one were to be killed, so would the other. Akimitsu can become exhausted from over summoning, and would not be able to be summoned for about 4 hours afterward.
Akimitsu cannot be summoned when another Yokai is inhabiting Kyoko's body.
Akimitsu also falls victim to Lunacy from the raise of the moon, just like Kyoko. She has not yet fully grasped her lunar powers.
Both Kyoko and Akimitsu are able to scry through each other's senses when needed. Kyoko can absorb Akimitsu into her own body to create a sort of spiritual exoskeleton to use as armor or spiritual energy to cast out at enemies.
Akimitsu is able to take up an animal form that resembles a wolf. As a spirit, he is able to change form as well as travel through shadows.
Any other abilities are detailed within the hyperlinked wiki page.

[attr="class","yuki-text"]”It… happens, sometimes. Seeing Kaiju, Yokai, and other beasts aren’t uncommon here in Japan, but for these many robots to just spring from nothing out of the blue? Yes, that’s definitely strange.” [break][break]
Said Kyoko, placing her hands onto her hips as the wave died down. Thanks to her and this armed girl’s efforts, it would seem as if they’d successfully dealt with the horde. [break][break]
”Nice shield. And lasers. Assuming that machine-thing is your craft, I have to hand it to you; it seems quite versatile. Much better than these scraps of metal,” The tanuki girl briefly laughed, kicking away what remained of one of their fallen enemies. [break][break]
”But I’m still concerned... I want to know their source. I wonder if we can find any clues pertaining to who started all of this…”
”Some virtuous leader you are,” Kyoko frustratedly muttered under her breath, irritated not only by Ahoeitu’s response, but his apparent indifference regarding part of the matter as a whole. He seemed much more interested in getting a chance to fight the evil extraterrestrials than possibly going out of their way to save more lives. [break][break]
Unfortunately, Kyoko didn’t quite have the voice to speak up against him. He was their leader, after all, and a loud and stubborn one. Taking a bull by its horns could leave one impaled if they hadn’t the fortitude to defeat it. [break][break]
Kyoko pouted her protest and crossed her arms. [break][break]
And she wasn’t quite sure she had the strength to speak up any more against him. [break][break]
After the shadowy-girl had made her appearance and Kyoko greeted her accordingly, the tanuki-heroine focused her attention to the newly broken down door. [break][break]
”Kaiden!” [break][break]
Oh no. Only now did it come back to her. Kaiden was on their team! She remembered discussing their recruitment with him on the day they trained together. Her emerald eyes blinked in surprise when the brunet let out a series of curses that were quite uncharacteristic of a sweet soul like him. [break][break]
”Kaiden! Are you okay?” [break][break]
Kyoko rushed over and stood before him, looking up at the hero with concerned eyes. [break][break]
”Oh man, everything going on made me lose track-- I would have given you a ride if I remembered. Gomen-nasai!” She apologized, giving a brief bow. [break][break]
However, Ahoeitu seemed to pay no mind to Kaiden’s complaint and completely blew past them. Kyoko gritted her teeth with anger. ”Ugh! Does he care about anyone who’s not himself?” She grumbled to Kaiden. [break][break]
Kyoko didn’t say anything, but she vigorously nodded her head to Sun-Hi’s points. She didn’t enjoy Ahoeitu’s hasty plans regarding how to best deal with the alien threat. It sounded like it could easily put many citizens’ lives at risk. [break][break]
Kyoko tippy-toed and received her communication device from Sun-Hi. ”Thank you, I’m sure these will help us.” The ninja-heroine said, speaking her words of gratitude. [break][break]
But there was no time to waste. Kyoko placed the device onto her ear while she recounted Ahoeitu’s directions. She drew out a ragged breath hesitantly. She had a feeling things wouldn’t turn out too well. [break][break]
”We’d better get to it,” Kunoichi spoke to Hellbird and Emote. ”Even though we’ve been relegated to B-Team,” She groaned, rolling her eyes. [break][break]
The wings that were once folded on Kunoichi’s back spread out their length. Kyoko leapt off the ledge of the roof and flew off towards their intended station. [break][break]
”Hmph. Standing defense? I can be much better than some measly guard.” [break][break]
As she was flying over the danger-impeding city, Kyoko threw out some of her seed down towards the ground. Her body began to glow a bright cyan as she focused her energy. These seeds germinated, creating quite a thick, sturdy, and spiny wall all around to enclose Uptown and separate the incoming opponents from the innocents nearby. Its florally looks were deceptive, it had the durability of reinforced steel. [break][break]
Kyoko just needed to keep focused. [break][break]
”Oi, Hellbird, Kaiden!” She shouted above the roars of oncoming machinery, ”I’ll stick close to the very beginning of the neighborhood. You guys should keep further away and deal with the incoming wave! I’ll support you from afar!” [break][break]
Still midair, with three seeds, Kyoko crafted a sort of chloro-machine gun into her small hands. She opened fire on any Haramite alien who strayed too close to the neighborhood. [break][break]

[attr="class","yuki-text"] He re-arrived as quickly as he left. Hearing his approach, Kyoko pried her eyes away from the screen of her smartphone and narrowed them at Ahoeitu. All of what he said made no sense to the ninja-heroine. [break][break]
”Ugh! Saving as many civilians as you can and salvaging your surroundings is literally your duty as a Hero-- it might as well be in the name! It’s not all about the Villains!” She argued back, visibly flustered by how obstinate ‘Victory’ was choosing to be. Who the heck decided to hire him, much less keep him on the job? ”Saving the majority of people is more than possible when you’re not some sort of arrogant knucklehead.” [break][break]
But before Kyoko could give him any more scolding (of which he was clearly ignoring), Victory exclaimed out his birthday wishes -- In Japanese. [break][break]
Taken aback, Kyoko blinked. She had a feeling he might have been of Asian descent, but did not expect him to be Japanese as well! [break][break]
The surprises didn’t stop there. Victory threw something toward Kyoko without any warning. She quickly extended her arms and caught the trinket as if she were a football player making a winning touchdown, nearly falling off the roof of her cabin in the process. [break][break]
Sitting up in place, Kyoko looked down at it and then back at the raven-haired boy. She raised a brow. A gift like this felt quite sentimental for such a sudden occasion; why would he give her something that his mom had to him? [break][break]
”I say it cause it’s efficient!-- Ugh,” Kyoko shouted back her response to the boy as he dashed off, eventually cutting herself off when she knew it would be of no use arguing back with him. [break][break]
Delicately, her fingers grazed over the glossy paint of the maneki neko charm. Red and golden paint defined the bells adoring its neck -- white, for its catty smile. Despite its size, its details had been meticulously etched onto it. Whoever had made it clearly put in effort. [break][break]
”Being on a team with him? Yare-yare, this is going to be a pain.” [break][break]
She groaned… Though she found herself smiling, anyway. [break][break]
If he’d given her this, beneath that inflated ego of his, he had to care. [break][break]

[attr="class","yuki-text"]As Kyoko peered even closer into the tinted covering of the robot’s strange cockpit, she could make out the face of what she assumed to be a… teenage girl? Her emerald eyes widened with surprise. Well, that wasn’t who she was expecting to manning such a machine. Talk about breaking stereotypes. [break][break]
Regardless, the other woman replied in an accent Kyoko could tell wasn’t native. None the matter. If this techie was on her side and had some manpower with her, Kyoko didn’t care for technicalities. ”Gotcha!” She replied with a quick nod. [break][break]
Back to the task at hand. Kyoko turned around to face the approaching enemies that were now armed with threatening-looking guns. However, suddenly, a protective field surrounded her and her newly-made ally. They protected the two from the incoming assault of red plasma. [break][break]
Kyoko smiled. She’d give her thanks by quickly retaliating as well. The girl exhaled and focused her energy as well as her spirit. Eyes closed, a green aura coated Kyoko’s body momentarily. The surrounding sakura and maple trees’ leaves and branches began to grow immensely in size. [break][break]
Opening her eyes, Kyoko motioned a single hand downward. [break][break]
Magically, many leaves were magically plucked from their homes and sent downward towards the robots at an alarming speed. The plant fragments had hardened to the density of steel and easily pierced through the robots’ bodies, cutting them up and dismantling many.
