[attr="class","monbody2"] After years of work Sun-Hi was finally putting the finishing touches on her mech. Years of experience had been poured in to every aspect of the dull grey ball of metal flying over Tokyo right now, and looking down on the sight of a city glittering in the night it felt almost like it finally paid off. Today was the first proper field test of the mark one prototype; everything had worked well in the lab but field work would be his true test. The enclosed cockpit hid her from view, not that anyone could reach the flying machine, while she monitored it's numbers.[break][break]
Little green bars and numbers flashed across her monitors, flickering in and out as the machine levelled itself. She'd travelled to Japan on the power of her mech's own thrusters and been moving about the city for a while now. Walking tests, running tests, jumping between buildings, checking everything she could. But she needed one last thing before she could call her first field trip a success. She needed some super baddie to pop up. It was kinda scary to be actively looking to get in to a fight, but she had to have some faith. The titanium plating of her prototype would protect her as long as she didn't tackle anything too big.[break][break]
A ping on her phone told her that the waiting had paid off! An emergency alert for the area. Danger at the power substation. Something about robots, which sounded like the perfect chance to run a combat test. Time to put her skills and her work to the test! With a quick adjustment of her seating and a twist of the controls the prototype roared in to action. The power substation wasn't far and she made her grand entrance with style! A multitude of spindly human shaped robots with laser arms were trying to get in to the substation with some big piece of machinery. Whatever it was they must have needed a lot of juice for it![break][break]
Like a silver bolt of lightning the prototype dropped from the sky, thrusters propelling it in to a dropping smash and crushing one of the robots beneath it's powerful feet! The shock from the impact vibrated through the cockpit, some adjustments to make there but it hadn't turned her to mush so that was good. A few flipped switches powered up the deflector as the robots turned to attack her. It looked like it was just dinky robots too, this should be easy! Time to prove her worth![break][break]

[attr="class","yuki-text"] The ground underneath rumbled uncannily under the robotic menaces, causing some of them to direct their attention downward with perplexion. However, it would promptly prove to be an ill-chosen action when suddenly shoots of massive, green roots forced their way through the cracks of a sidewalk’s pavement. The freakish nature cleanly impaled a group of the robots as if the enforced metal that coated them was the flimsy plastic of a plaything. [break][break]
”Ah, it worked!” A female voice chimed happily, an eerie juxtaposition to the dying whirls of the robots she’d just slain. [break][break]
A strange girl with ears, claws, and fur all over stood in the midst of it all. Kyoko Hamasaki, a new mutant and hopeful hero, had entered the fray without thinking when she observed the chaos unfolding a few blocks away. She’d come here to Taito City for the purpose of visiting Ueno Park as she always did on cool evenings like these. The serenity of her routine had been rudely disrupted by these glorified microwaves. [break][break]
Their arrival gave her the perfect chance for her, a newbie, to show her worth, before a set of heroes arrived to steal the glory. Furthermore, it was a chance to put the powers she’d been trying to hone to the test. [break][break]
To her joy, it hadn’t been going all too badly. Kyoko was only worried about the fact that these enemies were arriving in hordes- hordes whose numbers continued replenishing as she exterminated them. [break][break]
Kyoko leaped backward when more arrived and tried to slash her with their lazer-arms. She reached into her pocket and drew out a few seeds before throwing them. With an emerald glow, they transformed into a sort of net-like construct, trapping the incoming opponent in place for the time being. [break][break]
Her ears flicked. She could hear (and feel!) that another group was coming from her rear. But before Kyoko had a chance to deal with the threat, a new contender entered the fray. [break][break]
Out of nowhere, a huge mecha, larger than the size of these robots, dropped in, crushing the bot. [break][break]
Kyoko gazed up wearily at its cockpit before realizing someone was piloting it. [break][break]
Her tail swished behind her slowly with anticipation. [break][break]
[attr="class","monlyrics2"]Less talking, more smashing!
[attr="class","monbody2"]
The robots were rushing about pretty quickly with whatever task their bad guy boss had set them to. They were sending signals to communicate with one another but they were smart enough to encrypt it so her prototype couldn't just read them. Oh and also there was a blue fox girl here and she smashed a robot before the two locked eyes for a second. Some big vines had wrapped up and crushed a couple bots so she assumed this was an actual hero she hadn't heard of. Cool?[break][break]
"Friend if you're smashing robots too," Sunny replied back in Japanese. The girl was speaking it and she was a bit rusty, but she was good enough for conversations and the speakers carried her voice from the enclosure out to where she could hear it. In hindsight she really should have come up with an ad-hoc name to toss out for the machine she was piloting but it was a little late for that now! The robots were reorganizing and a dozen of them transformed their arms in to some sort of laser cannon.[break][break]
The engines roared. pulling back on the yoke the prototype turned to face its small frail looking enemies and stepped backwards towards the fox kid as she hit a few switches. The barrier at the front expanded in size enough to protect the other girl,a green hive of hexes flashing with each impact. Her eyes flicked between the target machines and her readouts, little green edges at the borders of her screen. Power was holding well enough, so with another button press she raised up the laser cannons and opened fire at a few of them. Blew a hole right through the first one, second one collapsed in a sparking pile. Needed some more calibration.[break][break]

[attr="class","yuki-text"]As Kyoko peered even closer into the tinted covering of the robot’s strange cockpit, she could make out the face of what she assumed to be a… teenage girl? Her emerald eyes widened with surprise. Well, that wasn’t who she was expecting to manning such a machine. Talk about breaking stereotypes. [break][break]
Regardless, the other woman replied in an accent Kyoko could tell wasn’t native. None the matter. If this techie was on her side and had some manpower with her, Kyoko didn’t care for technicalities. ”Gotcha!” She replied with a quick nod. [break][break]
Back to the task at hand. Kyoko turned around to face the approaching enemies that were now armed with threatening-looking guns. However, suddenly, a protective field surrounded her and her newly-made ally. They protected the two from the incoming assault of red plasma. [break][break]
Kyoko smiled. She’d give her thanks by quickly retaliating as well. The girl exhaled and focused her energy as well as her spirit. Eyes closed, a green aura coated Kyoko’s body momentarily. The surrounding sakura and maple trees’ leaves and branches began to grow immensely in size. [break][break]
Opening her eyes, Kyoko motioned a single hand downward. [break][break]
Magically, many leaves were magically plucked from their homes and sent downward towards the robots at an alarming speed. The plant fragments had hardened to the density of steel and easily pierced through the robots’ bodies, cutting them up and dismantling many.

[attr="class","monbody2"]
Fox kid leapt in to action pretty quickly! With a wave of her hand thick vines sprouted up and in an instant a dozen robots were sliced apart by a storm of leaves. It was super impressive, she had to admit, even if she'd seen countless displays of super force growing up. A few more robots clambered over the husks of their allies after the attack, which was her cue.
Tagging a switch to retract the energy barrier she twisted the controls, the mecha rising up higher on its twin legs and taking aim with its laser cannons. Thick high powered crimson beams lanced through the air and punched right through the centers of each one that popped up. Just six more, but that counted. She was braced for more to climb out but...
Wait, was that it? She nudged the prototype and approached the machine they'd brought with them, poking around the side to check. Nope, nothing.
"You know I thought there would be more of them than that," Sunny commented, her voice projecting from the machine as it turned to face the fox kid. She made the robot wave one of its arms in greeting. "I don't come to Japan much, are robot swarms like a normal thing? You'd think that would make news for your neighbors. And, um... Nice tree."

[attr="class","yuki-text"]”It… happens, sometimes. Seeing Kaiju, Yokai, and other beasts aren’t uncommon here in Japan, but for these many robots to just spring from nothing out of the blue? Yes, that’s definitely strange.” [break][break]
Said Kyoko, placing her hands onto her hips as the wave died down. Thanks to her and this armed girl’s efforts, it would seem as if they’d successfully dealt with the horde. [break][break]
”Nice shield. And lasers. Assuming that machine-thing is your craft, I have to hand it to you; it seems quite versatile. Much better than these scraps of metal,” The tanuki girl briefly laughed, kicking away what remained of one of their fallen enemies. [break][break]
”But I’m still concerned... I want to know their source. I wonder if we can find any clues pertaining to who started all of this…”
[attr="class","monlyrics2"]I guess someone has to do it
[attr="class","monbody2"]
The tanuki girl was real chatty, huh? She seemed excited to meet another super hero, but Sunny would hate to disappoint her. She turned her prototype's attention to the big piece of machinery just like the other girl. Good to know swarms of robots showing up in the middle of the city wasn't a normal thing. But what even was normal in a world of super heroes? Sunny didn't have a good frame of reference; her dad's place had been a regular super brawl spot over the years. You kinda just got used to it. Oh, and she had good things to say about her robot!
Sunny did crack a smile, but she doubted in the darkness and the tinting of the prototype's canopy that the other girl could see it. "It's a custom job, thanks. With any luck you'll be seeing more of it in the future," She replied, a thin beam of light issuing out from the front of the mech as it performed a basic scan. The big piece of machinery was... some sort of computer with a lot of moving parts. Probably some useful data on it. The right blaster arm popped a small compartment out before a connector cable shot out in to a vulnerable looking bit of circuitry. Before long her screens were filling with scrolling lines of code. It was... Really kind of shoddy work.
"Looks like they dragged this thing here to power it up with the substation. Probably not a good thing if it takes that much power. I'm not sure what it does, exactly, without looking deeper in to this crappy code... Hey, here's a name. Does... uh... Mechano-- Mechanoman, is that a familiar name? He's gotta have something going for him to make something this big. I should find him and kick his ass for making me look at this code," Sunny complained, struggling to make out the details of the code. It was written in English code, which was almost worse to try to read than Chinese characters. It didn't help that it was poorly written, no wonder the robots had been so easy to curb stomp, the poor things were probably suffering the mechanical equivalent of a migraine headache! "I don't really keep up with Japanese bad guys if they don't come to Korea, we have our own bunch of jerks."

”M-Mechanoman? Err…”
[break][break]
Like a confused puppy, Kyoko tilted her head to the side and scratched the fur coating the outside her ear with an index claw. She furrowed her brows and tried to recall the name. There were many sorts all about Tokyo and Japan proper, so to pinpoint a single name was not the easiest task. [break][break]
”Mechanoman,” The tanuki-girl repeated again, ”I think I might have heard that alias on the news somewhere. I think he might have been some sort of lousy underground tech-thug. I think he might have been responsible for a nearly city-wide blackout a few months back,” Kyoko explained. ”Y’know, petty Villain things. Never been a serious threat.” [break][break]
Emerald eyes gazed forward, eyeing the many scraps and hunks of metal junk that littered the streets and sidewalks of Taito City. [break][break]
”...Until now, I suppose. You’re right, it’s best we start an investigation of some sort.” [break][break]
Kyoko turned up from the ground to look at Sunny -- or at least where she assumed she was under the mecha’s tinted glass. [break][break]
”I think I know a place we might want to look,” Kyoko began, ears perking up with enthusiasm once more, ”There are some shady bars hidden in the depths of the Gotanda District. And when I say ‘depths’, I really mean it. They’re underground, we’ll need to find a sort of entrance,” Kyoko chuckled, rubbing the fur behind her neck abashedly. ”A lot of villains go there to discuss matters amongst themselves and make illegal deals with each other. I have a feeling that if he’s Mechanoman had suddenly decided to do something as big as this, he must be plotting something maniacal with other villains. We should catch them in the act before they can go any further!” [break][break]
The teen’s tail swayed from side to side with excitement. Yes, this could be good! If she were able to take down a threat undercover, Aegis would surely give her many accolades, right? [break][break]
But it wasn’t something she could do on her own. [break][break]
”What do you think? It might be dangerous, but it would be a good plan of action.”
[attr="class","monlyrics2"]I guess someone has to do it
[attr="class","monbody2"] Sunny kept going through the code as the Tanuki girl explained what she knew. Minor bad guy looking to take it to the big leagues, huh? Usually when people like that decided to make big moves like this it meant someone had to get on to it quickly or a major crisis would be on the city's hands. She'd seen it happen with people like Nautilus, villains who kept a low profile before suddenly bursting on to the scene when it could have been stopped early if anyone had cared to.
Sunny was no super hero, but she couldn't just ignore the situation even if she was as I'll equipped to deal with it as she was.
"That's not good. If he has big plans and no one else is on his trail already he could cause some real damage," She agreed hesitantly, and then the girl went on with some more information. She knew about a bad guy hangout in the city. A place where if anyone knew about what this Mechanoman guy was up to they'd be able to find out.
"Uh... Well," Sunny hesitated, looking down at the fluffy tail swishing excitedly back and forth. She wasn't a super hero. Going in to a villain bar was risky even for a proper hero... But someone who wasn't known might just be the perfect mole. And whatever this machine was if this guy was planning more attacks it would be bad...
"Okay, I guess we have to take care of this. We'll need some kind of disguises, you lead the way. I'm Sun-Hi by the way, we didn't get a chance to go over names..."
Kyoko and Sunny were off quickly. They had to act fast!
