[attr="class","inner-finally"]Ezra took a few deep breaths while he hid behind the dumpster of a restaurant downtown. He was probably at least a mile or two away from the prison, still not far but he had been undetected after escaping. A nice mix of pure destruction and quick movements had given him the chance to escape. The heroes had bigger issues to handle. A building collapsing to a few dozen people rendered unconscious from his blasts. He had them scattered throughout the whole city, spread somewhat thin.
He had bought himself some time but in doing so he was starting to leave breadcrumbs. Anybody with half a brain could start to narrow down his possible location. He needed to think outside the box and fast. There were a few bombs he had charged still laying around the city. He planned on blowing them up when he needed to give himself an opportunity to move. Might make the heroes think that he doubled back. He was taking this moment to rest up a bit. Gather his thoughts and think of his next move. He was finally out. Along with a few minor supes. They would likely already have been caught by now. He never shared his plan with anybody. He gambled on saving a few, just to sow a bit of chaos among the heroes and general population.
Who blew up the prison? Which inmate was the most dangerous? He just needed them to hesitate and focus on the wrong person for a few minutes. Just for him to get enough time to get away. Give him time to plant some more bombs and to move on to the next location. By the time night fell, Ezra aimed to have at least a few insurance policies. Make sure that even if he was caught, he could buy himself out of it with a handful of lives. He wasn’t too keen to kill but it was not completely his choice. He would give the heroes a chance. Let him leave on his own accord or he’d end the lives of several people.
He removed his hand from the dumpster and stood up. That was his fourth bomb placed for the evening. He rubbed his wrist as he tried to focus. He was reaching his limit on bombs of this caliber. Maybe one more was his max. He needed to start to think of his next move. Where was he going to try to go next?
People... So focused on their tangled lives, so afraid of the inevitable end... They often forgot that there were things worse than death... Like boredom! Ugggh... There were no words for the mind-numbing pain of having nothing fun to do. One soul felt that pain particularly badly today. A wisp invisible to mortal eyes drifted lazily above the downtown buildings, watching the ants scurry below. She needed something new! Something exciting! Something like... Her attention stopped onto what looked like a towering pile of muscle and trouble hiding behind a dumpster. And was that the ugly uniform of the local maximum security superhotel...?
After a moment, the unseen lips twisted into a devilish grin. The vague blob of ectoplasm started morphing, quickly taking a more feminine shape. It formed a lithe teen, no older than sixteen. An imaginary barber styled the hair into a side buzz cut, with the long fringe swept to the side. ...Was her hair pink back then? Eh, it was pink now. Numerous piercings decorated her ears and one stud even appeared on her tongue. Messy, rebellious makeup painted her features. Torn jeans, a band shirt and a dark leather vest completed the punk look. Defying several laws of physics, the invisible trickster dropped down and landed without a sound.
Showtime~!
Suddenly, a cheeky voice demanded the escapee’s attention. “Gee, mister, you look lost.” Something shimmered against the brick wall right next to him. Slowly the transparent figure turned visible, reminiscent of a chameleon changing colors. “Are you hiding from someone? Maybe from all those cops sniffing around, hm~?” The pink-haired punk girl measured the muscular man with her gaze, utterly unafraid. For someone several heads shorter and visibly weaker, she sure didn’t lack any confidence. “Be a reeeeal shame if someone screamed right now~” She stuck out her tongue to underline the bratty threat. If snark had been a substance, her words would’ve dripped with it.
The trickster gave the mysterious man only a moment to consider, before stepping in front of him. Her golden eyes gleamed with an idea. “Tell you what...” She raised a finger, wanting to poke him on the chest to punctuate her words. “If you get me smokes, I won’t make your day worse.” Her teasing grin widened, revealing a row of sharp teeth. “Good deal? Great deal.” She left the comment floating in the air.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]A voice?
Ezra looked around to try to find the source. Had he been spotted? An invisibility power perhaps? How long would it take before more heroes swarmed? A figure begun to appear. A young woman? She didn’t look like a hero, but what did a hero look like these days? In fact, the tone of her voice seemed more mischievous than anything else. Perhaps she wasn’t a threat...yet.
Something didn’t seem...tangible about her. Was this her ability? To act like Casper or some phantom? Interesting. “Smokes? You’ll have to be a bit more clear on what kind of smoke you want.” His eyes shifted into a reddish tint. He released one of the bombs a little over a mile away. As the explosion went off, Ezra’s eyes locked onto the girl’s own. Even at this distance the noise would have been heard. Give it a minute or two and the smoke would be noticeable from the horizon as well.
“Is that the kind of smoke you want?” He asked with a bit of sarcasm in his tone. If this chick was some sort of ghost his skills would likely not do too much against her, but he doubt she could do too much to hurt him too. Total invincibility was a myth, all supes had some sort of weakness. Some just hid it better than others. Not giving the girl much time to respond, Ezra walked through her intangible body and edge near the edge of the alley, poking his head out into the street to see what the situation was like. “Do you know a place that would be pretty quite right about now?” He asked her as he glanced back for a moment to see her reaction to him.
Turns out, the rest of the teen was just as solid as the finger that had poked the man. So, instead of walking through her, the unimpressed man bumped right into her and pretty much shoved her aside like a big jerk. With such a huge size and weight difference, it was pretty effortless. She stumbled with an irritated growl. “Oi, watch it, jackass!” Staying tangible was an important part of playing a mortal girl. She wasn’t going to make any amateur mistakes while hunting for fun. The old ‘you’re just imagining things’ excuse worked only so many times, you know.
Despite the explosive demonstration, the punk girl didn’t seem the slightest bit worried. Only annoyed. Marching after the selfish prisoner, she clarified her demand. “I want a pack of Mild Maltys.” She glanced towards a nearby convenience store, its bright signs peeking from the far side of the street. “The shopkeeper has a stick up his ass and won’t sell them to me or my friends. Like, what does he care how old I am? It’s none of his goddamn business. Tch...” She finished venting her frustration with a click of tongue. This was one role she had practiced plenty during her colorful, albeit brief, life.
The trickster quirked a brow when the escapee asked about a quiet place. “I know plenty of places. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna show them to you, jackass.” Folding her arms, she leaned lazily against the brick wall. “Get me my smokes and I’ll think about it.” She cast a sideways glance at him. That sharp smile slowly crept back onto her features. “Unless you want me to scream for help right now.” In the distance, the telltale song of police sirens was getting closer. “All I gotta do is tell the cops that you groped me and they’ll taze you on the spot.” She wasn’t bluffing, she had done it before. Never got old~!

[attr="class","inner-finally"]To his shock, Ezra walked straight into what he thought was a phantom. No matter, he still pressed forward to get a better look at the street. That last explosion was a bit aways from here. Even some of the faster heroes might take a bit of time to get there. He had another, somewhat close to that area. If he caused it to go off that might it cause the heroes to think he was still in that area. If this chick did end up altering them, that could be an issue. Having placed that many bombs around the city, it was waning on Ezra. He needed a bit more time to recharge himself to full capacity.
“What’s the difference…”
He started as he turned towards the girl. He placed his hand on her shoulder and leaned in. All the while placing energy into the girl’s body. Only a second went by, that was all he needed for a threat.
“If I go get you smokes, that clerk is going to recognize me. I’m all over the news. They’ll alert the heroes. If you scream it will alert the heroes. “
He took his hand off her shoulder and took a step back.
“Either way I’m screwed.”
He poked the woman in the chest. As his finger pulled away, a visible spark of energy could be seen to be generated. Nothing that was painful or anything, just a bit of a show . A threat to the girl. A smirk crossed his face.
“How about we make a fast grab of a couple cartons and maybe a pack of beer. Then we make it quick to somewhere we can relax without any annoying heroes about.”
As the stranger approached, the cheeky punk stood her ground unflinching. Despite being trapped between a dangerous criminal and a solid brick wall, she showed no fear. Rather, she had the nerve to sneer at his woes. “That sounds like a you problem. Ain’t my fault that you’re a shitty crook.” She stuck out her pierced tongue to underline the insult. Unfortunately, the threat was clearly lost on her. When the guy poked her soft chest, she glanced down at the spark and then lifted her unimpressed stare back up again. “Cute trick. You do fireworks too?” Being the ignorant and indifferent sort, she obviously didn’t know or understand the man’s powers. Or maybe she was simply reckless enough to not care about the danger.
When presented with a counter-proposal, the thuggish teen rolled her eyes. “Tch, fine. As long as I get my smokes...” She didn’t seem too bothered to be working with a known criminal. And for a good reason... Her sharp teeth twisted into a sly smile. “But don’t think I’ll be seen around you. Heh heh heh...” With the mischievous laugh, a strange shimmer crept across her skin and clothes again. Slowly her whole body turned transparent before fading from sight completely. Not even a shadow remained.
However, the sneaky girl hadn’t actually gone anywhere. If the man bothered to check, he would find her soft figure right where it had been before. Likewise, her disembodied voice soon came from the same spot. “Automatic doors don’t work when I’m doing my thing, so you’re gonna be my doorman.” Well, duh. Obviously, motion sensors couldn’t detect what they couldn’t see. If the man listened very carefully, he might hear quiet footsteps circling around him. Shortly afterwards, an unseen hand gave him a shove towards the convenience store. “Well? What are we waiting for?” She was going to follow his lead for now at least.
