BIOGRAPHY

The Vangle family was a proud family of mages with its origins from Europe. They were prestigious for producing powerful mages that typically were some of the guiding figures within those in the magic-practicing community. As the eldest child, Kari's birth was heavily anticipated, seeing as a birth within the Vangle family was always a joyous moment, especially when it came from the current head of the family. That was, until the moment of her birth actually arrived.

Their new baby daughter was far from what they had expected, born with a muscular disease that left her weak and wheelchair-bound for her entire life. While initially worrisome, the family would deem the child to be acceptable so long as she possessed the powerful magical aptitude that ran through the family. Yet, the more they learned about this child, the more disappointed they became. Kari didn't show any signs of possessing magic past the age of 4 when a child would show their first signs of magic if they were a mage. By then she had already lost the favor of her family, with the two coddlings their second-born, her younger sister Catherine. Born healthy, showing a powerful magical aptitude at only a year old and almost naturally charismatic, she was instantly made the face of the family with Kari being shoved into the background, seen as nothing but an embarrassment.

Through a stroke of luck, Kari would display some magical abilities at the age of 10, deeming herself as an unusually late bloomer. While this had caught the attention of her parents, hoping that her latent magical abilities were powerful, they were quickly proven wrong as her powers were weak, hardly able to produce a basic spell that her sister easily mastered. At best, she was only briefly able to send a spurt of magic through her body, temporarily curing her of her condition before she became exhausted. Once again, Kari was cast to the side, her parents not even bothering to teach the young girl magic as they saw it as a waste of time.

Despite the neglect, she suffered as a child, Kari tried to make the best of her situation. Unlike her other siblings who were sent to a prestigious boarding school somewhere in Europe, she was sent to a typical public school where she would begin to cultivate her love of robots. Joining the school's robotics club in middle school, to eventually leading it in high school, Kari had made plans to simply leave her family and move somewhere farther away from them so she wouldn't have to suffer the pressure of living with them anymore.

It was midway through her senior year in high school where she discovered the truth behind her magical powers. Unlike the rest of her family, she wasn't able to produce magic through her body as it was too weak. However, if she had a medium to channel it through, it was just as strong as her sister's abilities. However, not wanting to rouse her parent's attention, she would keep this discovery a secret and continue on with her life. Behind their backs, she would practice, experimenting day to day with her newfound abilities further.

After graduating high school, Kari moved to Wayport City to attend a university there where she would major in mechanical engineering. Furthermore, it became easier for her to experiment with her abilities with more resources and the major incidents giving her the cover she needed to hide her powers. While those four years were tough, both academically and learning how to utilize her powers better without a mentor, Kari still had managed enough for her to create a few gadgets which would help ease her daily life, primarily a gauntlet which she had initially used to help enhance her dexterity and grip strength that she had otherwise lacked.[break][break]


Even after she had graduated the university, Kari would still stay around simply because they had resources that she lacked and simply to pursue a PHD in the field. Her new inventions would continue to flourish, getting larger and larger by the minute, but eventually even her university was no longer able to support her projects, lacking the funds and resources. Frustrated at the wall she was now at, Kari was about to give up when she had a recommendation.[break][break]

The president of the university she had attended had connections to an organization known as Aegis who saw her skills as useful. In exchange for developing some technology for her, she would have free reign to build whatever she wanted. Even if her work was still heavily monitored and a large chunk of the technology she build wasn't made for her, Kari was still happy with her new job. However, as her desire to build grew heavier, she began to wonder: was she able to build a body far stronger and powerful using both technology and magic?[break][break]

While the idea of going under surgery never appealed to her, Kari wondered if it was possible to build a fully mechanical body and then use her magic to possess it. It was a giant task indeed, but one that she would dedicate many years of her life working towards. Such a task would not go unnoticed by Aegis with the amount of effort and resources it would take to build. They were only able to reach a deal after Kari promised her service with her magnum opus once it was complete. [break][break]

After years of trial and error with many sleepless nights, Kari had finally completed her project. This new robotic body, dubbed Tungstain, was better than she could even imagine. While the body still was bulky and overall unfit for daily life and thus forced Kari to continually switch between the two forms, the new abilities they granted her made her forget about such a minor inconvenience. For the first time in her life, she could walk, run and grip things without the assistance of other technology. In addition, this entire body was essentially a giant magical medium she could use to channel her magic through, giving her unrestrained access to her powers for the first time in her life. It was exhilarating, giving her a newfound confidence she lacked her entire life. Sure, now that she had this body she would have to work for defense now, but it didn't matter. This freedom was all that she cared for. With the success of her magnum opus, Kari would continue forth, even beginning to start a small technology company on the sidelines. Regardless, she was determined to make her mark on this world, showing people her true abilities. [break][break]

CHARACTER POWERS

✰ TECHNOMANCY [break]
The power to use a combination of magic and technology. [break][break]

Utilizing technology as a medium for her magic, Kari is capable of casting spells that can be used for offensive, defensive or supplementary levels. The only limitations this power has is her own imagination, the grade of material she uses and her own mana pool.[break][break]

Consciousness Transferal: Kari can transfer her mind into any technological device that she is aware of. [break][break]
X - While her consciousness is transferred, it leaves her human body exposed and defenseless. If she is killed within this form, she essentially dies. [break][break]

Enhanced Brain: Kari's technomancy gives her an innate connections to computers and various other forms of technology which has begun changing the way her brain functions to become more akin to a computer. For starters, she now possesses eidetic memory and in addition she is also capable of multitasking much easier than she has before, along with being able to calculate numbers almost instantaneously.[break][break] 
X - Because of all the activity that her brain now performs, Kari is prone to become more mentally fatigued much quicker than a typical person. This causes her to require more rest, dependent on how much brain power she uses.[break][break]
X - Kari is especially vulnerable to EMPs. While they are generally harmless to most humans, having one go off near her will essentially cause her to pass out.[break][break]

Techno Blast: Utilizing a medium of some sort, whether it be her gauntlet or a robotic body, Kari is capable of producing pure energy which she can use offensively via blasts or alternatively use them to produce force fields for defensive purposes. [break][break]
X - Unless she has some sort of technological equipment on, she is unable to produce the blast. [break][break]
X - Each time she uses this blast, it consumes mana which her body produces. She can only rapid fire off so much energy before she becomes physically fatigued. [break][break]

↣  AUTOMATON PHYISOLOGY [break]
The power to use the abilities of a mechanical life-form. [break][break]

Tungstain is completely mechanical, fueled only by the magical powers of Kari and her consciousness when she inhabits this body. Similar to other automatons, it runs off of electricity along with a combination of Kari's own mana, and is far more durable than a typical human body immune to poison and other toxins due to its man made nature. In addition, Tungstain is created with a variety of gadgets and gears, meant to aid her in her fight whilst also giving her controller a medium to utilize her powers through.  [break][break]

Enhanced Body: Within this form, Tungstain far exceeds most average humans. While it's strength is more akin to peak human strength, it's speed and agility have since become superhuman. It can run up to 80 miles per hour and can perform acrobatic moves with ease. Due to its mechanical nature it can also effectively never grow tired. It can continue doing difficult tasks for long periods of time without the need for a break. This can include sprinting, pushing, or other physical activities. [break][break]

X - Tungstain requires frequent maintenance in order to be able to do all of this along with a steady stream of mana coming from Kari, utilizing these abilities will essentially cause her to drain more quickly. [break][break]
X - Tungstain is especially weak to electricity based attacks and EMPs due to its mechanical nature, both being able to force Kari's consciousness out of the body and rendering it nothing more than a piece of scrap metal.[break][break]

Gadget Usage: Built into Tungstain's body are a variety of gadgets that she uses to maneuver the field with. Within her hips and her wrists are grappling hooks that she can use to zip across the battlefield with. Inside her back is a parachute that she can deploy if her grappling hooks don't work and she is up high.[break][break]
X - These gadgets can be broken, thus rendering them ineffective. [break][break]
X - The grappling hook generally requires something to hook on, thus isn't as effective in flat land. In addition, the grappling hook spool only reaches about 100 feet max before it runs out.[break][break]
X - The parachute isn't big, meant to only hold Tungtain's own body. Any other weight will essentially null it. [break][break]

Weapon Physiology: In place of both Tungstain's legs are swords which she uses to attack with.[break][break]
X - Her legs are now swords and thus Tungstain has a weaker sense of balance and it isn't difficult to knock her down. While she is capable of standing, walking and running like normal it generally requires precise calculations and careful movement to do so.[break][break]

Scanner Vision: Within this body, Tungstain can quickly scan people's faces and gain information about them from Aegis' databases. This can include their names, powers, and general information about their backstory. OOCly, this requires player permission for her to see how much information she can gain from them. Aside from information gathering, it also allows her to track the general location of people that currently may be around her, even allowing her to see through material to pinpoint their location. X - Information can be false or falsified, which can give her incorrect information.[break][break]
X - This ability only works on organic beings. Mechanical beings, such as herself, currently do not work with this system.[break][break]

Self Destruction: An ability that should only be used as a last resort. Meant to use as an alternative to capture primarily, Tungstain is capable of producing an explosion from her body, destroying all technology that comes with it. The explosion itself is more force than anything, meant to send metal shrapnel around her body. It is functionally similar to a pipe bomb.
X - This ability will effectively "kill" Tungstain, essentially rendering her dead and thus will have to follow the general death rules.
