Reddened eyes glared out into the world, a screech at the back of the Lobisomem's throat only stifled by a leather wrapping around her snout, which her thrashing was quickly making short work of. Quite suddenly, she was suddenly released, her bindings snapping under her strength and claws, and she could finally see her surroundings without the stress blur.
The metallic smelling walls, a smell of blood sticking to the floor...was she in a den? What were they eating? And why weren't there any scraps?
They had caught the beast outside the ring, who smelled the blood and assumed a meal, and the clatter of bets was obvious on sight as it snarled at the spotlights and sprung at the cage walls. A fierce competitor, whether it was a freak or a mutant didn't much matter to the betters, just that the result of the upcoming fight got them money.
Another was coming, she heard it. Abruptly, Lia dropped to the stone ground, a frightning calm coming over her as she lowered to a more defensive, four-legged stance. Whatever was happening, she could hunt it, and she would tear through these walls. It was unfortunate, but she was already hungry.
Outside the fighting ring’s metallic walls, the surrounding crowd was abuzz with loud, disorderly clamor. Many shady figures were talking amongst themselves and money was thrown around in drastic amounts. Simply put, the scene was the usual one around this underground sparring club within the shadier depths of Wayport City. It was hidden away from the watchful eye of Aegis. It served a place for rebellious Supers to showcase their power -- and consequently, the superhuman-fueled bloodlust -- as well as a place where greedy Wagerers could test their luck. Blood and sweat stained the dirty floors of the facility. It was a misfit’s paradise. [break][break]
”Yoo! Who am I goin’ up against this time? I hope they’re ready for a good pummeling!”[break][break]
A female voice shouted above the crowd. Heels clicked against the cold cement floor. Whoever they were, they approached forward with a fierce determination. Stepping into the limelight, a jet-haired lady in a strange suit would appear before the caged-in ring before jumping into it, landing at the other side of her opponent. [break][break]
Her name was Punkette. Having lived amongst the streets for quite some time, the 20-year-old was relatively known. She was popular not because of a criminal streak but because of her desire to prove herself amongst the pack. It was strange to some. Punkette did not desire any monetary compensation for brawls she participated in; only praise from the audience. [break][break]
Of course, the folks betting on her could have cared less. It was more money for them. [break][break]
The woman reached to her side, brandishing a large, ruby-colored sword. She narrowed her eyes at… whatever was in front of her. Strangely enough, it didn’t look human at all. Punkette rose a skeptical eyebrow. Where were these matchmakers finding these combatants? [break][break]
”Huh. Weird,” She began, proceeding to circle her opponent from a distance and cautiously. ”Are you even human? I’ve never fought an alien before!” [break][break]
Despite the uncertainty revolving around her situation, Punkette sounded as upbeat as could be. She was excited to be battling against someone new! [break][break]
”Well… Show your fangs. Let’s see what you’ve got.”
This was a very loud prey, and one showing its red fangs right away! Was it hunting too? The air reeked of human, but this thing didn't smell like them, there was a difference, both a clean smell and a dirty one. While it was small, the growl of the Lobisomem's stomach communicated her desires. It smelled powerful.
Unbeknownst to, well, most of humanity, the beast was understanding speech. At least the important parts like Are you human got through to the beast, who raised her claw briefly to her chest, "I...'m Lobisomem."
And that was all the information the combatant would receive. Her mouth sprung open in a lingering screech, springing forward faster than most humans could hope to escape from. Her jaws were aimed at the woman's legs, aiming to cripple in one fell swoop.
The befuddled Punkette didn’t even get to finish her sentence as suddenly, her ominous, scaly opponent suddenly lunged forward. The half-angel-half-dastard woman quickly unsheathed her red sword and pointed it downward so that its flat surface intercepted the dangerous beast’s teeth in place of her own tender flesh. The impacting clang when fangs met iron was what followed next, the loud sound resonating through the arena’s walls. [break][break]
Punkette clenched her teeth. Jeez, this thing had quite a vicious bite. She actually had to exert considerable effort to keep the opposing force at bay. [break][break]
”Gahh, those are scary teeth!” The girl mused aloud before letting out a grunt, removing her sword and promptly jumping backward. [break][break]
The raven-haired lass furrowed her brows. Not out of anger, but curiosity. ”How’dja get here, Lob, Lobi-- Uh, what was your name again? I didn’t get it the first time.” She asked, cocking her head to the side. [break][break]
Punkette was too jovial for her own good. [break][break]
But regardless, it was high time to see more of this new combatant’s capabilities. Punkette rose her sword once more and slashed downward. And then again. She repeated the movement a couple of times, sending sonic blades of air the creature’s way. How fast could it move?
Lobisomem snarled as the sword was wrenched away from her teeth before she could even try and break it. The weapon name escaped her, but she wasn't dim enough to not know that these metallic structures were like replacement claws for humans...or humanoid looking things, as she was slowly becoming convinced the more she stayed around this stranger.
"Lobisomem!" She spit, irritation bubbling in her voice, which sounded more like it came from deep within her stomach, rather than any vocal cords. It was remarkably well-spoken, the name that always bubbled in the back of her mind practiced over and over. If there was anything she could say, it was her name and kind.
She didn't get a chance to talk more, stiffening as the humanoid swung its sword...and she didn't react fast enough. At the last second, as the spotlight and roars of the crowd clawed at her mind, she leapt to the side, too late.
Squealing in shock, the reptillian beast tumbled on the ground, snapping at the air as near black blood spread under her side. A gash came into view as she pulled to her feet, letting out a long screech at the crowd as they cheered and jeered. Instinct dictated she fix this injury, and so it was. A sharp eye would spot flesh just rising from the wound. Replacing the injury as the Lobisomem grew thinner and thinner. Already having taken an injury, she could feel her scales lose their sturdiness.
Abruptly, she was back on her feet, clambering up the cage's walls. There, she lingered, watching with impatience as she waited for her prey to make the next move.
Punkette’s azure eyes shot wide open as her opponent bellowed out its name. Lobisomem then, she thought, her features hardening. She gave a smug grin and little nod. Punkette would make sure she didn’t forget. [break][break]
”Graah!” [break][break]
Out the sonic blades of wind went. And they managed to strike her target too! Punkette lowered her sword slightly as she watched the inky blood seep out from the gash she’d inflicted. ”How’s that?!” She exclaimed, her tainted blood now rushing with exhilaration. This had truly roused her vigor. [break][break]
But-- [break][break]
”What in the?” [break][break]
The wound-- it was healing itself! Punkette was shocked at this new development. Apparently this beast had some sort of regenerative factor too; not unlike herself. [break][break]
”You’re really full of surprises, huh?” The raven-haired girl scoffed, complimenting her foe. [break][break]
It made her want to test a few other tricks out herself. Punkette sheathed her sword and rose her fists. They began to illuminate with starry energy that was somehow dark yet bright at the same time. Fists barren, she charged forward, attempting to punch down at her enemy.
Clinging at her perch, Lobisomem concluded one thing. She was not to be hit to have any chance at this. Feeling at the metal under her claws, she concluded something else. It was weak enough to bite through. She just needed to have a chance.
As Punkette screamed forward, Lobisomem launched, seemingly leaping forward for a suicidal strike. At the last moment, however, she sprang to the side, the familiar burst of speed she had used before. This humanoid was like a fellow predator, and be what it may, that meant Lobisomem was pulling out all her stops.
Her metal-crushing jaws shot out, aimed at Punkette's arm to crush and tear.
An agonized scream rang out into the metallic cage walls of the arena-pit, directing those looking away in towards the action and further enrapturing those already spectating. Lobisomem’s sharp teeth had successfully met its target, digging in deep to Punkette’s soft flesh. [break][break]
Clearly, the monstrous bite force cared not about the raven-haired Naphalem’s celestial blood. The enemy’s chomp sent waves of awful pain throughout her upper body. Quickly, crimson liquid seeped out of the bite and onto the dirty floor below them. [break][break]
Punkette winced and yelped again. With Lobisomem’s jaws still clenched tightly around her arm, it would be dangerous to try to forcefully pull away, lest she really lose the arm for good. With pain the only thing on her mind, Punkette did the first thing she could to break free: with her uninjured arm, she charged up a ball of twilight energy into its respective fist and tried to fire it at Lobisomem’s abdomen so that the alien may let go. [break][break]
If successful, Punkette would ungracefully stumble back and land onto her back, wreathing in pain. She’d overestimated her initial punch and it had led her to this unfortunate position. [break][break]
”Can’t get too cocky…” She’d cough self-depricatingly.
