As Xavier rushed down the street, having changed into his crime fighting regalia in haste and abandoning his old clothes in an abandoned alley, curses streamed from his lips. This was the exact opposite of what he had wanted to do during his trip to America: what had begun as a quick sojourn abroad to tour a potential university for attendance had been transmogrified into something else as terror swept through the streets. This was not ideal at all. . . an alien attack so close to the Aegis headquarters? A bold move, one that plunged Wayport City into chaos as carnage and death ran rampant during the siege on the hall of heroes. Furthermore, it was precarious business for Xavier to interfere: people like him were criminals in the eyes of Aegis and displaying his powers in full view of their seat of power, flaunting their rules and regulations, it was just asking for trouble.
[break][break]
But as cries for help rose out of the accumulating rubble, Xavier knew he could not be idle and stand by as innocents had peace stolen from them, consequences be damned. And so Pendragon arose and allowed the latent life force to flood his body, granting him powers of metahuman levels so that he might be able to make a difference here. Pendragon vaulted over rubble and overturned cars as he made for the enemy forces, stopping to aid civilians as the need arose: a pinned man here, a woman threatened by falling debris there. . . it was bedlam.
[break][break]
Before long, Xavier arrived at the heart of action. Other superbeings were already hard at work, defending against the alien onslaught, trying to hold the protective barrier steady. A cold realization settled into Pendragon's mind and he shivered: if that barrier fell, all was lost. Aegis was the main front of resistance; no matter what else, they needed to hold. Perhaps a bit more center stage than he should like, Pendragon knew he could not waste time. His sharp eyes quickly scanned the scene. One particularly impressive looking alien seemed to hold command over all the others, flanked by guards. Working on the assumption that they worked like most living creatures, Xavier arrived at the conclusion that the spider-like being was the commanding officer: it looked fierce enough, that was for certain.
[break][break]
Bracing himself for combat, Xavier charged a large ball of life energy, its pale glow bouncing softly off the surrounding scene. With a final breath, he loosed his latent energy and aimed right for the guards flanking the supposed officer, hoping to cause some level of disarray.

The woman accepted his stance and his offer with nary an inkling of fuss and was just as soon formulating a plan for the defusing of the situation at hand. And, by all means, the crimson haired belle had a solid enough plan. Perhaps lacking in grace, it seemed a satisfactory enough measure.
[break][break]
"Bait, huh?" said Pendragon, a wisp of amusement in his voice, "Well, not the classiest of roles, but I suppose if I must, I shall. I think that plan should work well enough. The space seems adequate and the beasts don't seem to be choosing their targets intelligently. Very well, we'll go with your plan."
[break][break]
Still, thought Pendragon as their little meeting came to be adjourned and the red woman darted away to her post, it was tall order and that was not even beginning to account for if the true culprit interfered. . . if there was a true villain and the crimson haired lady was not manipulating him with an expert hand. Pendragon could not rule out such treachery. . . rogues and villains were not above such if they thought they could turn folks from foe to tool. But options were slim, which was of particular note due to the new group of civilians barreling towards him with their bestial hunters in tow.
[break][break]
"I suppose we start here. . ." muttered Xavier, shifting his weight forward as if preparing for a fight. Life force flooded his body in an instant, bolstering his human body to metahuman levels. A moment later, he jumped forward with inhuman speed, putting himself between the fleeing crowds and the encroaching predators, a slim bulwark powered by chi. With well-honed reflexes, Pendragon grabbed the pursuing predators by the scuff of their furs and tossed them back-- gentle by his measure, but for those of typical human condition, it would certainly be enough to come as quite a shock to the beasts. In their rage, they wasted not a single moment turning their gazes of hatred back on him and began to chase him instead, the new object of both gluttony and ire.
[break][break]
But that was just the beginning. What happened next would have been amusing were it not for the fact that this was a matter of life and death-- it looked as if a parade were unfolding. Lions, tigers, and bears. . . 'oh my', thought Xavier as he winded his way through the zoo, building his conga line menagerie as he saved civilians. As he rushed down the stone path of the zoo yet again, he cast a long look over his shoulder and saw what would be quite terrifying for any normal person: a long line of animals that would make Noah blush, all eager to nip at his flesh and quench their thirst with his blood. But for him, it was satisfaction. Nodding to himself, he sprinted back to the agreed upon meeting place and came to a skidding halt in the enclosure. As if on cue, animals began to pour in after him. Pendragon looked around with keen eyes, looking for his temporary ally, hoping she would make good on her end of the bargain. . .

The woman might have felt that Xavier spoke with a certain eloquence, but he could not help but notice her own speech. It bespoke and betrayed intelligence and grace. . . even under the pressure of the unfolding disaster, there was a level of control to her that was evident in her voice, one that Pendragon could not help but take note of; he would not lift his gaze from her, the dual prongs of curiosity and suspicion were still hot in the fires of his mind, tempered by crisis. Be that as it may, the woman spoke sense and plenty of it. As the picture came together for him, Pendragon was presented two options: either she uttered truth or she was a masterclass in gaslighting. . . and she was right about Aegis, an organization whose name felt dirty on Pendragon's tongue. Pendragon gave a small smirk, taut under the circumstances, but visible all the same.
[break][break]
"You've nothing to fear on that account, miss," said Pendragon, "I'm no hound of Aegis either. Far be it from me to submit myself to such a loathsome group."
[break][break]
And that was true. Pendragon had been raised that way, to be distrustful of groups like Aegis. Organizations like that could not be trusted, that was what he had been told. The Knights had spent centuries being exiled to the shadows by men of faith and suits and ties, those eager to keep the peace-- be it for pure or ill intent-- and suppress truth. Aegis was just the mere latest evolution of such men-- designed to control and keep tabs on people like him who were trying to do the right thing. On the outside, they might seem innocent but history was evidence enough for Pendragon that hearts of gold are oft only gilded and muck lies beneath the thin veneer of their appearance.
[break][break]
"Moreover," he said, "it is as you said: I need you: your grasp on the situation and your powers. I'd rather not hurt an innocent creature if it can be helped. If you are willing to help me subdue the beasts in such a way that they come away unharmed, I am more than happy to be the one to grapple with the true rogue behind this."
[break][break]
After all, that was the goal here. Restore peace, keep the people safe, and put an end to the blackguard causing it. Pendragon's heart was pounding. This strange woman and the situation unfolding. . . this was the most exhilarating action he had seen yet in his short career.

[attr="class","wassup1dangertxt"] The crimson-haired lady spoke, her tone mellow, as if this were a simple Sunday stroll in the park and not a zoo erupting into chaos. As he held back the rampaging gorilla with nary a modicum of conscious effort, Pendragon turned his gaze on the lady as she spoke her soft protest. But as Pendragon turned his gaze, her own began to glow, ever so slightly, but to the trained eye of Pendragon, there was a distinct aura to them. His eyebrow arched, his mind racing with sudden possibilities as the gorilla went limp and fell into an easy sleep.
[break][break]
Another superbeing? Perhaps the one responsible for the rampage at hand? Confusion gave way to suspicion in an easy fashion. If she could lull the rampaging beasts, did that mean she could rouse them? Powers were curious like that, a real mixed bag of ins-and-outs, with stipulations that were sometimes arbitrary in nature. It was an odd scenario, and not one that eased the edge that Pendragon felt. . . but still, she did not seem to be a threat. For now, she was a curiosity. Whether she were friend or foe, well, that was yet to be seen.
[break][break]
"I'm fine," said Pendragon in response to her question, "it would take a lot more than an enraged ape to hurt me."
[break][break]
Pendragon took a full look at her now that there was a small moment of peace. She seemed almost. . . otherworldy, as if she were out of place in London. Beautiful, that was certain, but something was amiss. . .
[break][break]
"My bodily state aside," said Pendragon, "I'm wondering what another. . . gifted individual is doing here surrounded by all this chaos, seemingly unperturbed by it. It makes a fellow wonder if she had some purpose here. . ."

[attr="class","dangertxt"] Xavier had been sitting on a bench in a lovely little park in London-- a veritable slice of Eden in the twisted and ancient cityscape of the United Kingdom's capital city-- when his phone buzzed with a certain ferocity, interrupting the tranquil, pensive state he had been, his vibrant reddish-brown eyes snapping from pastel blue sky upon to electronic screen nestled in his hands, an alarm displayed across as a sudden news alert: there had been a sudden disaster at London Zoo, the work of some rogue. . . and that was all Xavier had needed to read. In a moment, he was ducked into a bush, quickly pulling off his casual streetwear to reveal the suit made for heroics beneath: a white outfit, almost like a suit, worked with finery. If garments could speak, its words would be elegant, at odds with the dirty work is was tailored for. . . but it would serve him well enough. With a final flourish, Xavier pulled on his mask, a red piece of fabric that sat on the upper half of his face, obscuring his features. He was no longer Xavier; no, he was now Pendragon, knight of the Round Table.
[break][break]
Adrenaline pumping through his veins, spiritual power from within his bodily spirit flooded his muscles and he burst from the bush like a bird, taking flight at speeds that well exceeded that of anything a normal human ought to be capable of. The park was only a stone's throw from the zoo, allowing the young vigilante to arrive with nary a moment of waste. His senses honed to a razor's edge by the sense of peril permeating the air, Pendragon scanned the scene below, taking stock of the chaos that had been wrought by the fiend responsible.
[break][break]
Suddenly, something caught Pendragon's eye: a man fleeing from a rampaging gorilla tripped over his own feet and came tumbling down to the hard, dirty path below as the enraged, slathering beast encroached. Not far from where he had fallen, a striking woman was sat on a bench. Paralyzed by fear, perhaps?
[break][break]
With no time to ponder, Pendragon swooped in below, a loud thud resounding through the area as his feet met the ground, his slim figure now position squarely between the fallen man and the gorilla.
[break][break]
"Run," said Pendragon, his voice clear and resounding over the din of chaos, "I'll protect you!"
[break][break] And those words would soon be tested: the gorilla, undaunted by his sudden appearance, now charged Pendragon, his hands extended as if intending to squeeze the life out of him. But the beast would do no such thing: even with the strength of its rage, Pendragon easily caught the gorilla's hands and brought the beast to a screeching halt without straining himself. [break][break]
He stood there for a moment, holding the gorilla steady as he surveyed the scene, his eyes once again falling on the striking red-haired woman not too far away. [break][break]
"Miss," he shouted, "I would advise you to leave!"

Personality Evaluation
[break][break] Xavier is an intelligent, well-spoken young man who dedicates himself to whatever task appears before him with great ferocity, be it mundane or heroic. Not one to be cowed by fear, Xavier has thrown himself into the new age of superhumans with chutzpah and bravery, oft confused with foolishness and reckless endeavors by outsiders. Quick to extend a hand to those in need, Xavier has a nasty habit of biting off more than he can chew, oftentimes taking on more responsibilities than he can handle, but is loathe to give them up: once the young man has set his mind on something, it is difficult, nigh on impossible, to get him to change course from his chosen path. It is often his way or the highway-- so to say, Xavier thinks he is right and moral about. . . well, just about everything. That being said, because of his stubbornness and high regard for his own justice, Xavier is his own worst critic, often berating himself mentally and discrediting himself to others verbally. [break][break]
In terms of likes and dislikes, Xavier is not unlike other people his age, despite the burden he shoulders. He loves to read-- and sometimes indulges in the written word-- and Xavier is also something of a socialite, enjoying a good conversation over a nice meal. Xavier also enjoys working and having responsibilities, seeing it as an opportunity to prove himself, not only to those around him, but to himself. There's not much he actively dislikes, aside from being told he cannot do something that he wishes to do. There are minor things, but were one to ask them, they would likely not spring to mind lest someone asked something specific enough to trigger the thought; for example, he does not like seafood at all, he does not like when people do not cover their mouths when they sneeze, cough, or even clear their throats. Xavier detests the feeling of styrofoam. All sorts of mundane things could make the list, but like any other person's, they are myriad and too tedious to list.
Before he was Pendragon, Xavier Chance was born to a poor, very young couple called the Blanc’s in Colchester, a moderately sized town in the south-east of England. Unable to afford the child, the couple made the painful decision to surrender the child to the system shortly after his birth. That is how he spent the first few years of his life: a ward of the state, separated from his birth parents, shifted from foster home to foster home. Xavier remembers little of those days, aside from a sense of being unwanted that would only compound later in life, as he was only in the system until he was roughly four years of age.
[break][break]
It was then that Xavier met the woman that would become his mentor and adoptive mother: Marianne Chance. A mysterious woman in her mid-fifties, never married or had children of her own. Their first meeting was one of silence-- Xavier remembered it well. She said her name and asked his own, before staring at him, her gaze focused, as if she were looking inside of him. It was at the end of this meeting that Marianne spoke to the social worker and made it crystal clear that she intended to adopt Xavier. To Xavier and his child mind, the process was a blur and it was not long before Marianne had taken him home with her to a small but pleasant home in the countryside, not but a small drive from London. It was there that the truth of the matter was revealed after a short while: Marianne sat him down at the table for dinner one night and began to weave a tale of knights and monsters, of magic that resided within the soul, of an order that had stood for centuries in the shadows: the Knights of the Round Table, not like those of the Arthurian legend, but real and protectors of people. Marianne explained that, after a long span of dwindling and tragedy, she was the last of the Knights. . . a mantle she intended to pass on to Xavier, once she finished training him. As a child gleefully enamoured not only by the thoughts of magic and monsters, but also of having a home and being wanted, Xavier threw himself into it headfirst.
[break][break]
The next decade and a half of his life was spent training, balancing the demands of learning to be a guardian and learning to draw power from his own soul and the demands of normal life. To his credit, Xavier excelled, eventually graduating top of his class and, in knightly matters, having earned the mantle of a true Knight of the Round Table, the last now that Marianne could finally rest after a long life of fighting. Separate from Aegis due to the Knights distrusting the government and proper organizations after centuries of being repressed by both churches and states, Xavier works alone, attempting to be a hero and a true protector of the world in this new age. [break][break]
Drawing on the innate power within the human spirit and soul, Xavier is able to manipulate spiritual forces and life energy, which are the result of the cultivation of one's physical and mental aspects, such as strength or will power. Through the use of such power, a human can bolster their strength and durability, allowing them to stand up to far greater foes. Because of his own strength of will and having spent the vast majority of his life, Xavier is quite the force to be reckoned with on the battlefield, having the durability and strength to keep up with some impressive fellows. Of course, he is young, and he still has a long way to go before he reaches the apex of his power. At his current level of prowess, Xavier is capable of moving very quickly-- up to eighty miles per hour on foot and over one hundred and fifty miles per hour during chi-aided flight-- and generating the force necessary to lift a ton unaided and without strain. It also grants him the durability to fight on a level with other beings of similar strength.[break][break]
It is important to note that despite his control over chi, Xavier is still a normal human. As such, Xavier's enhanced strength, agility, durability, and any other chi aided abilities are liable to be inaccessible should Xavier become physically or mentally unable to generate the strength needed to call forth his strength. As such, his capabilities become that of an eighteen year old man in excellent shape, but still very much human.[break][break]
Chi Attacks: Xavier is able to harness his inner energy for offensive matters. He is able to use his chi to enhance physical strikes. In addition, he is able to expel the chi as pure energy and create energy attacks. [break][break]
X - Entirely reliant on physical and mental stamina. An exhausted Xavier will be able to generate no more power than a normal human of similar strength in similar conditions and an exhausted Xavier would be entirely unable to generate an external expression of ki.
X - Beings that nullify or absorb energy will likely display some level of immunity to these abilities, pending the nature of their ability. [break][break]
Chi Flight: Harnessing his chi, Xavier is able to fly. [break][break]
X - Entirely reliant on physical and mental stamina. An exhausted Xavier will be unable to fly. In addition, his speed scales with his level of exhausition as well, meaning his speed can decrease as a fight wears on him. [break][break]
Chi Augmentation: Xavier is able to use his spirital powers to enhance his physical body and grant him increased parameters. [break][break]
X - Entirely reliant on physical and mental stamina. If he becomes exhausted or is rendered unconscious, Xavier's body loses all its enhancements. [break][break]
