Anti-Heroes and Vigilantes are our most desired member groups at the moment! Do consider making one!
”Vampires huh? Hah, this is gonna be sweet!” [break][break]
An elated, rowdy female voice hooted aloud. A blur of black and crimson cut through the skies of Wayport City, specifically, its Downtown municipality. Punkette, popular rock musician and hero for all those outcast from society -- depending on who you asked -- was dashing her way forward into town. She’d heard word from her fellow Vigilantes that there was an uproar downtown; some sort of Vampire menace was infecting citizens across Wayport. [break][break]
”Hmph. He was a former Aegis agent too? Maybe they shoulda paid ‘em more and he wouldn’t be running amuck,” Punkette snorted, quipping her dissent for the self-proclaimed hero organization. [break][break]
Bright blue eyes scoured the environment below. If these vampire-minions were just infected civilians controlled by a wannabe Dracula, all she needed to do was take out the big menace out to free these people from his clutches, right? There would be no reason to fatally harm these individuals. [break][break]
But before she could truly finalize her thoughts, Punkette’s attention was directed toward a loud smashing noise below. She scowled. Ugh, another hero must have arrived here as well. [break][break]
To her surprise, as this hero lurched forward, they weren’t being the least bit careful about their opponents. He was rushing into battle but not taking into account the vampires that were slowly beginning to surround his blindspots. [break][break]
”Eugh, stupid Aegis stooge, can’t even fight right!” Punketter grumbled, quickly unsheathing her ruby sword. She lowered her altitude and dashed in, hitting the ground with considerable force. [break][break]
”Hiya!” [break][break]
The woman swung her sword, sending out a shockwave of air to launch the collection of vampires that were beginning to flank this boy away. [break][break]
”Wow, I didn’t know Aegis was hiring blind dogs to their ranks now,” She spat sarcastically. ”How ‘bout you open your eyes while fighting, eh? Might save you some trouble.”[break][break]
She turned forward, steely-eyed but wearing a determined smirk. She held her blade tightly in her hands. [break][break]
”I can take it from here. Aegis clearly doesn’t know how to clean up their messes; now y’all got a vengeful co-worker on the loose.” [break][break]
Punkette listened to ‘Takahata’s’ words intently, an elated smile still spread across her lips. ”Ooh, so a friend told you about me? That’s sick! And sweet of him. Maybe I should send him a specially signed card after the show.” She mentioned. [break][break]
And when her newly-made friend began to speak about monsters that inhabited Japan, Punkette was clearly on the edge of her metaphorical seat, hands clenched excitedly. [break][break]
She pouted though, when Takahata joked about his form. [break][break]
”Oh pssh! Who cares about Heroes and Aegis? They’re just fancy titles for silly dudes in capes who wanna feel better about themselves,” Said the woman, shrugging her shoulders dismissively. ”You don’t need to be a ‘Hero’ to go out and do what’s right. Personally, I think having to register to use powers you were born with in public is a load of bullshit.” [break][break]
And anyone who’d heard of the rockstar’s name would know she felt this way about Aegis. Punkette was quite vocal about her opinions regarding the organization. She was labeled as a radical by many because of it. [break][break]
”You don’t need to look a specific way or have specific powers to be an awesome person,” Said Punkette, turning to look at Takahata with determined blue eyes. She extended an index finger, gently touching his lower right chest -- where his heart presumably lay. [break][break]
”It’s what’s in here, y’know! I just wish Aegis could understand that and leave people like me alone,” She grumbled, rolling her eyes. [break][break]
But those eyes suddenly shot open. The demi-Nephalem had an idea. [break][break]
A wide, wide, grin spread across her mouth devilishly. [break][break]
”You said you friend’s in the crowd, right?” Punkette asked. ”You could totally surprise him by helping me out in my next performance! How would you feel to be a helper on-stage? My next song is gonna have a lot of props. We’re gonna need something to shoot from our cannon at the peak of the song-- you could be it! Trust me, while you’ll be on fire, it will be tooootally safe,” Punkette blabbled once again. [break][break]
”Oi, can someone pass me my sword?” She called out to some of the stage crew members around. One of them quickly shuffled forward, retrieving the bright crimson blade for Punkette. They handed it to her and she grasped it firmly in her right hand. [break][break]
”My flames are completely safe to a guy like you. It doesn’t operate like normal fire.” [break][break]
She turned the weapon upside down and tapped the sword’s tip onto the ground. White-colored flames erupted from Punkette’s feet, and soon coated her body. With her free hand, she offered her friend to take ahold. [break][break]
”I know it might look scary but I’m serious! Touch me, it won’t hurt a bit!” [break][break]
If he chose to brave it out and attempt to do so, upon contact with Punkette’s skin, he’d only feel a warm, almost inviting sensation coursing through his body. [break][break]
Punkette grinned from ear to ear as she walked forward, arm tightly wrapped around the shoulder of her newly-made acquaintance. The stingy, close-minded organization that was Aegis could label her whatever they wanted, but at her core, Punkette knew she was a good person. And she strove to treat people as if she were one. The demi-nephalem understood just how hard it could be to be ‘different’ in the age of Aegis and Supers. Sometimes folks just needed a sweet and loving home to keep them company. To make them feel like a person and not some sort of outsider. [break][break]
For a moment, Punk’s blue eyes gazed down at the ground thoughtfully. [break][break]
The rocker herself had been one of these people. If not for her mother’s family, she wouldn’t know where she would be. [break][break]
But Punkette did not enjoy delving into sentimentalities. Upon hearing the words of this skinny boy -- whose English she quickly realized was fluent as could be, the girl smirked and narrowed her eyes cheekily. [break][break]
”Oh, so we’ve got a trickster on our hands here!” The raven-haired girl giggled, punching Mako’s arm jovially but failing to pay much mind to her strength. Hopefully, she didn’t harm him too much in the process. ”Aw shucks, I really appreciate the compliment. The band and I work our very best to give you the best music ever!” She said next, forming rocker devil horns with her left hand. [break][break]
She turned to look at Mako directly, wide-eyed and curious. ”Your name though… You must be Japanese, right? That’s so cool!” Punkette happily chimed. [break][break]
The girl was no better than an excitable schoolgirl as she moved back only to place both of her hands onto her shoulder, shaking him eagerly. [break][break]
”I hear they’ve got some super sick monsters there sometimes! Have you ever seen any? Are they fun? Are they scary? Oh, oh, and I know there’s some sick music there as well! What’s your favorite genre? Do the metalheads there talk about me at all? Could I possibly be world-famous?” Blabbered the Vigilante girl, assaulting Mako with a plethora of questions. She’d heard of Japan and the fun things that happened there, but never had an opportunity to visit herself. [break][break]
”Are you from here? Or did you move from there to here? Oh, and how did you find out about me? Was it through a flyer or a vandalized street sign or did someone tell you by mouth?”
The show had begun, and with what power did Punkette sing! The melodic noise from the band’s instruments and her voice rang out into the underground arena, pleasing joyous fans as they waved their palms and banged their heads to the music. [break][break]
The lead singer in question had a bright grin plastered across her lips as she did sing. Punkette couldn’t describe it, but there was just a certain thrill she felt when a good harmony met an enthusiastic crowd. Sketchy or not, the half angel Vigilante was in her safe place here with all these other music lovers. [break][break]
She had a great stage presence too, managing to dance a bit around the stage as she sang out the chorus like it was a holy gospel; Punkette put her heart and soul into her music, and no one would ever be able to change her passion. [break][break]
The first song concluded. There was a brief silence before an eruptive roar of applause. Punkette bowed and pumped out a peace-sign with her dainty fingers. She grasped her guitar by its neck and ambled away from the stage to take a brief intermission. [break][break]
”Owch. Can’t exert myself too much,” Punkette chuckled to herself as she rubbed the soft skin of her neck. She could project her voice to great lengths, but her lungs and voice box were only human. It would be a shame were she to lose her voice this early on! [break][break]
Boots clacking against the cement of the empty subway floor, Punk briefly saw a glimpse of what she could only assume was a sneaky onlooker who wanted to weave his way into the audience. Even from afar, she could hear snippets of the stranger and the guard’s exchange. [break][break]
She chuckled. [break][break]
”Oi, don’t worry about it!” Punkette exclaimed, walking up to the two. As soon as she stood before them, she placed her hands onto her hips and gave a brief nod, motioning the guard to stand down. ”He can be my guest. It can be hard to get invites sometimes with how quickly my show sells out,” The raven-haired lady scoffed. [break][break]
Punkette moved closer, staring at this boy with curious azure eyes. [break][break]
”Kinda scrawny ain’t’cha?” She asked, raising a dark brow. ”You gotta get some pounds on you, dude. Hey, I’ll treat you to an awesome meal after the show, my treat!” [break][break]
She tried to place an arm around his shoulder. If he let her, Punkette would lead him forward past the crowd and towards the ‘backstage’. [break][break]
”You say your English isn’t so good? That’s alright, I’ll do my best to understand,” The woman giggled good-naturedly, ”So, what’s your name, dude?”
”Hey you misfits! Are you ready to ROCK?!” [break][break]
A female voice shouted out above a large crowd. The gathering hooted back their eagerness with equal enthusiasm, the unison of voices roaring aloud within an underground hideout in the outskirts of Wayport City. [break][break]
At the front of it all was a girl draped in black and crimson. Her clothing was revealing and her face was painted, but perhaps the most striking feature of her’s were the bright, white flames surrounding her body. They tickled against the skin of her body as if embers could not burn. And, well, in a way, these ones couldn’t harm her. [break][break]
Punkette, a troublesome Vigilante in the eyes of Aegis, had organized an underground rock show. She was known quite well among the streets as a fearsome Super as well as an avid musician. When she didn’t make up in her battles she did with her impressively harmonic voice. Even those who didn’t like the genre often found themselves flocking to her shows just to get a chance to hear her voice. [break][break]
And why was that? Well, it definitely had to do with otherworldly attributes. That was the part that worried the hero organization. Not only was her vocal prowess destructive, but it had the capability of hypnotizing its listeners. Such power wasn’t safe to be roaming around unchecked, and many times had Punkette turned down the offer to work for Aegis. [break][break]
With a haughty person like her bearing such power, the organization knew it needed to keep a close watch on her. [break][break]
Word of her show had gotten around, and Aegis was prepared. They’d set up a Hero to be transferred from Japan to Wayport temporarily to investigate the Vigilante woman. His task was to sneak into the show and find a way to question Punkette, before possibly apprehending her. [break][break]
”Alright! Let’s go!” [break][break]
The woman’s finger held tightly onto her pick. She began to strum her guitar. The rest of her band began to play along, and loudly at that. [break][break]

After the passing of Punkette's mother and disappearance of her father of celestial origin, she was placed into the care of the REEVES family, or the family of her aunt. She grew up with the family as if she were one of their own, however, there seemed to be an intriguing connection between Punkette and her "sibling", or cousin, in technical terms. [break][break]

Not long after, Punkette became rebellious and ran away from home, deciding she'd make a group of her own that were adamant about not concealing their powers. This group was against forces of evil but Aegis as well, making the gang an illegal one in the law's eyes.[break][break]
In the end, Punkette finds herself contending with her Cousin -- a person who's supposed to be her closest friend. Just what can bring them back together again?[break] [break]

Queensrÿche Guitarists Chris DeGarmo and Michael Wilton formed Queensrÿche in 1981 in the Seattle, Washington, suburb of Bellevue. Both guitarists had been playing in heavy metal cover bands and had decided to form a group that would play original material. The duo recruited high school friends Geoff Tate (vocals) and bassist Eddie Jackson (bass), as well as drummer Scott Rockenfield. Instead of hitting the club circuit, the group rehearsed for two years, eventually recording and releasing a four-song demo tape. The cassette came to the attention of local record store owners Kim and Diana Harris, who offered to manage Queensrÿche. With the help of the Harrises, the tape circulated throughout the Northwest. In May of 1983, Queensrÿche released the EP Queen of the Reich on their own record label, 206 Records. Queen of the Reich sold 20,000 copies and, in the process, earned the band major-label attention. By the end of the year, the band signed to EMI, which released an expanded version of the EP as the Queensrÿche LP later in the year; the record peaked at number 81.[break][break]
At this stage, Queensrÿche sounded closer to British metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Over the next few years, the group continued to refine its sound, opening for hard rock acts as diverse as Bon Jovi and Metallica. Their next two albums -- 1984's The Warning and 1986's Rage for Order -- sold respectably, with the latter reaching number 47 on the U.S. charts. Rage for Order also demonstrated a flowering of progressive rock influences, an idea that would reach its fruition with 1988's Operation: Mindcrime. Boasting orchestral arrangements from Michael Kamen, the album was Queensrÿche's most ambitious and focused effort to date, earning both positive reviews and strong sales. Operation: Mindcrime stayed on the American charts for a year, selling over a million copies during its run.
An agonized scream rang out into the metallic cage walls of the arena-pit, directing those looking away in towards the action and further enrapturing those already spectating. Lobisomem’s sharp teeth had successfully met its target, digging in deep to Punkette’s soft flesh. [break][break]
Clearly, the monstrous bite force cared not about the raven-haired Naphalem’s celestial blood. The enemy’s chomp sent waves of awful pain throughout her upper body. Quickly, crimson liquid seeped out of the bite and onto the dirty floor below them. [break][break]
Punkette winced and yelped again. With Lobisomem’s jaws still clenched tightly around her arm, it would be dangerous to try to forcefully pull away, lest she really lose the arm for good. With pain the only thing on her mind, Punkette did the first thing she could to break free: with her uninjured arm, she charged up a ball of twilight energy into its respective fist and tried to fire it at Lobisomem’s abdomen so that the alien may let go. [break][break]
If successful, Punkette would ungracefully stumble back and land onto her back, wreathing in pain. She’d overestimated her initial punch and it had led her to this unfortunate position. [break][break]
”Can’t get too cocky…” She’d cough self-depricatingly.
Punkette’s azure eyes shot wide open as her opponent bellowed out its name. Lobisomem then, she thought, her features hardening. She gave a smug grin and little nod. Punkette would make sure she didn’t forget. [break][break]
”Graah!” [break][break]
Out the sonic blades of wind went. And they managed to strike her target too! Punkette lowered her sword slightly as she watched the inky blood seep out from the gash she’d inflicted. ”How’s that?!” She exclaimed, her tainted blood now rushing with exhilaration. This had truly roused her vigor. [break][break]
But-- [break][break]
”What in the?” [break][break]
The wound-- it was healing itself! Punkette was shocked at this new development. Apparently this beast had some sort of regenerative factor too; not unlike herself. [break][break]
”You’re really full of surprises, huh?” The raven-haired girl scoffed, complimenting her foe. [break][break]
It made her want to test a few other tricks out herself. Punkette sheathed her sword and rose her fists. They began to illuminate with starry energy that was somehow dark yet bright at the same time. Fists barren, she charged forward, attempting to punch down at her enemy.
The befuddled Punkette didn’t even get to finish her sentence as suddenly, her ominous, scaly opponent suddenly lunged forward. The half-angel-half-dastard woman quickly unsheathed her red sword and pointed it downward so that its flat surface intercepted the dangerous beast’s teeth in place of her own tender flesh. The impacting clang when fangs met iron was what followed next, the loud sound resonating through the arena’s walls. [break][break]
Punkette clenched her teeth. Jeez, this thing had quite a vicious bite. She actually had to exert considerable effort to keep the opposing force at bay. [break][break]
”Gahh, those are scary teeth!” The girl mused aloud before letting out a grunt, removing her sword and promptly jumping backward. [break][break]
The raven-haired lass furrowed her brows. Not out of anger, but curiosity. ”How’dja get here, Lob, Lobi-- Uh, what was your name again? I didn’t get it the first time.” She asked, cocking her head to the side. [break][break]
Punkette was too jovial for her own good. [break][break]
But regardless, it was high time to see more of this new combatant’s capabilities. Punkette rose her sword once more and slashed downward. And then again. She repeated the movement a couple of times, sending sonic blades of air the creature’s way. How fast could it move?
Outside the fighting ring’s metallic walls, the surrounding crowd was abuzz with loud, disorderly clamor. Many shady figures were talking amongst themselves and money was thrown around in drastic amounts. Simply put, the scene was the usual one around this underground sparring club within the shadier depths of Wayport City. It was hidden away from the watchful eye of Aegis. It served a place for rebellious Supers to showcase their power -- and consequently, the superhuman-fueled bloodlust -- as well as a place where greedy Wagerers could test their luck. Blood and sweat stained the dirty floors of the facility. It was a misfit’s paradise. [break][break]
”Yoo! Who am I goin’ up against this time? I hope they’re ready for a good pummeling!”[break][break]
A female voice shouted above the crowd. Heels clicked against the cold cement floor. Whoever they were, they approached forward with a fierce determination. Stepping into the limelight, a jet-haired lady in a strange suit would appear before the caged-in ring before jumping into it, landing at the other side of her opponent. [break][break]
Her name was Punkette. Having lived amongst the streets for quite some time, the 20-year-old was relatively known. She was popular not because of a criminal streak but because of her desire to prove herself amongst the pack. It was strange to some. Punkette did not desire any monetary compensation for brawls she participated in; only praise from the audience. [break][break]
Of course, the folks betting on her could have cared less. It was more money for them. [break][break]
The woman reached to her side, brandishing a large, ruby-colored sword. She narrowed her eyes at… whatever was in front of her. Strangely enough, it didn’t look human at all. Punkette rose a skeptical eyebrow. Where were these matchmakers finding these combatants? [break][break]
”Huh. Weird,” She began, proceeding to circle her opponent from a distance and cautiously. ”Are you even human? I’ve never fought an alien before!” [break][break]
Despite the uncertainty revolving around her situation, Punkette sounded as upbeat as could be. She was excited to be battling against someone new! [break][break]
”Well… Show your fangs. Let’s see what you’ve got.”

> Songbird, or Punkette, is a girl passionate about her ideas and would stop at nothing to attempt to get her point across. She does not enjoy abiding by laws and restrictions put in place by Aegis. She thinks having to hide her powers when not a registered hero is a breach in one’s freedoms. [break][break]
> She is very hard-headed and stubborn. Once she has her mind set on something, it’s very hard to change her mind. [break][break]
> Classic tsundere. Songbird acts tough (and she is, to an extent), but she is very capable of being a loving person. She enjoys making friends and is extremely loyal to the ones she does manage to make. [break][break]
> Music lover. Plays hard rock/punk music, and enamors crowds by using her angelic sound powers. [break][break]
The story starts as a tragedy. Two unlikely lovers - an angel and a Demon, form an uncouth relationship that produces a Nephalem child, a creature thought to be cursed and harbor tainted blood. Legends stated such a combination of light and darkness could prove to be unstable and dangerous for a being to encapsulate. Thus, in agreement between various Demons and Angels alike within the Realm of Gods and Celestials, the unholy-spawn was cast down to a lower realm where its unsightliness could never be witnessed. [break][break]
In their hurried attempt to rid their home of the Nephalem child, the Demons and Angels did not realize that the “lower realm” they’d selected to banish the child actually harbored life -- Mortal life, in fact. It just so happened to be Earth, the place where humans lay, where the Nephalem was dispelled. [break][break]
The Nephalem was able to survive thanks to Earth’s resources, and opted for a life in solitude within the natural outskirts of a city -- Wayport City -- where he’d found himself. During his time alone, he was able to reflect on his existence and the intolerance of his holy counterparts above. What made a union between a Demon and Angel so wrong? Sure, both races had their differences, but it did not mean they couldn’t learn to get along. [break][break]
Soon enough, he grew a disdain for all things holy. [break][break]
The Nephalem decided that he would simply acclimate himself to the culture of mortals instead. They appeared to be much more tolerant than devine races, afterall. Perhaps he could find a place to find himself here by masking his appearance. He did not need to tell anyone about his true self. He’d simply blend in and enjoy life in hedonistic bliss. [break][break]
Gradually, he removed himself from his caveman-like lifestyle and moved closer to civilization. The Nephalem was timid and anxious about coming face-to-face with mortals, so he decided he would get close and spy on them while he worked up the courage to assimilate with their race. [break][break]
Ironically, the first human building he had come into contact with was a church. A small but beautiful cathedral had been set up nearby a natural path. The pleasant-sounding hymns drew the curious Nephalem in. From the church’s stained glass, he’d watch with glee as the church choir sang their songs -- songs of God and Angels -- yet failed to understand much of their true meaning. Perplexed, he could only wonder: Had the Celestials interacted with Mortals in the past? [break][break]
He went on like this for about a month, before being spotted by one of the Church chior’s members during one of their songs. It was a raven-haired lady with beautiful azure eyes. The Nephalem was taken aback by the mortal’s beauty and quickly tried to retreat. But before he could get far, the woman caught up with him and introduced herself. Gabriella was her name, and she only wanted to ask him why he never thought about coming inside! [break][break]
Gabriella and the Nephalem quickly became acquainted. They drew close-- close enough that he felt as if he could share his secret with her. And he did. [break][break]
And to his surprise, Gabriella was not disgusted or irritated by his revelation. [break][break]
She saw no impurity about his existence. She thought he could become his own person if he so desired. Labels could not stop him. [break][break]
It was then that the Nephalem decided that this woman - mortal or not - would be his love. [break][break]
Many years later, the two convinced a child. They decided to call her Celestial Songbird, or simply “Celeste” or “Songbird” for short in honor of the two’s love for music. [break][break]
Unfortunately, the strain of bearing a semi-Celestial child took a great toll on a mortal like Gabriella. She passed a few months after their child’s birth, leaving the Nephalem alone to raise a demi-celestial child. [break][break]
Distraught, torn, and uncertain, Naphalem had made the hasty decision to leave Songbird in the care of Gabriella’s sister, who also knew about the truth. Naphalem fled not long after, but had sworn to be a guardian for Songbird overhead. [break][break]
Orphaned and without much guidance, it was no surprise that Songbird grew to be quite a rebellious child. She manifested anger issues and impulsivity which likely stemmed from her own insecurity about not having parents. It didn’t help that she had supernatural abilities as well which often made her a danger to herself and others around her. [break][break]
However, Songbird still seemed to harbor the traits of her parents. Despite being a rebellious woman, she still had a strong sense of virtue. She loved music as well and thought of it as a vital mode of expression. [break][break]
At the age of 15, Songbird ran away from her guardian to live on the streets in search of a life of adventure. She dabbled her head into gangs and the likes of less-than-legal groups in the search of finding a place to fit in, not unlike her father had many years ago. Songbird used her magical musical talent to reel in friends -- and even fans -- and soon became popular amongst the rebellious youth as a rising singer-star. [break][break]
She’s continued like this for 5 more years. Now 20, Songbird has decided that she wants to enter a new chapter of her life. As a Vigilante. She desires to create a safe-haven for offbeats and misfits alike like herself within the wild city of Wayport. [break][break]
And she’ll stop at nothing to get what she desires.
