Friendship is an alien term; ever since Francesca put an end to Gregor, the young man who had been her closest comrade during the Omega Project training days, she has understood that friendship is not something she can afford. It may be something other people enjoy, but not her.
Instead, the world is divided into assets and threats. Assets are nurtured, fostered and secured to the best of her ability. Those who can further the agenda of Reign and become reliable individuals will find her an extremely helpful ally.
But this only extends to the point where people are useful to her personal or to Reign more broadly. She may put on a smiling face, but never mistake that for genuine affection.
Threats
There are so many.
Anyone who might expose Reign more openly must be suppressed and eliminated. Anyone who opposes the gradual spread of Reign's influence must similarly be destroyed.
So-called Heroes are the obvious enemy, but the ones that Francesca finds most insidious are the anti-heroes and Villains who have no allegiance to anyone or anything but themselves.
These wild cards can be even more fanatical and unthinkingly dangerous than the few people in the world who suspect the truth about Reign's nature. They must be silenced.
Opportunities
Ah, but if the world were truly only assets and threats, what point would there be in getting out of bed in the morning?
Francesca is a goal-oriented individual who, as well as being responsible for maintaining Reign's reactive defence to some degree, is primarily tasked with handling their proactive operations.
On behalf of her organisation she is always seeking to expand their influence, whether that means setting up shell companies, negotiating with new players in the underworld, or kidnapping unique individuals who can be brainwashed or threatened into working for Reign's agenda.
She also has her own projects. Ways to escape death and prolong lifespan are often of interest. Ways to augment the Omega Serum and improve upon her already-impressive capabilities are always sought after.
Liabilities
Although she wishes it were not the case, life does not always run smootly - especially when you are deeply involved in a network of competing egos and powerful interests where murder is a primary means of seeking promotion.
Francesca has no illusion that she has the full and complete backing of every person in Reign. Her people are but one faction, and there are always those who question her judgement and authority.
Internal civil wars, coup attempts and betrayal are just simple facts of life. Then there's all the myriad spy agencies in the world constantly seeking to prove her existence...
Ah, it is tiring. But what would life be without a little excitement, neh?
I'm not sure how Francesca would react to Yseult, but I think they could have a very interesting dynamic. Yseult is pretty much a sidekick for hire (among other things) who will do anything for anyone, whether they're a hero of light or an agent of darkness, as long as she's paid enough. She's loosely contracted to Reign so she receives most of her jobs from them, but she does plenty of freelance work for people of varying allegiances. Francesca might see her as a threat for this reason.
However, Francesca would benefit very much from a working relationship with her. Yseult essentially has two powers: she can heal, and she can temporarily enhance someone else's power by twice as much while halving its drawbacks. She's also a semi-immortal being who cannot age or die by natural means. Francesca has money and connections; Yseult has powers that would strengthen her and a physiology she could study. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Maybe they can do a mission together. What are your thoughts?
1) What does Yseult know about who she has worked for/is working for? 2) How trustworthy is she?
If Yseult doesn't know she has worked for Reign and instead thinks she works for various individuals or shell companies, then she's purely an asset to be utilised.
If she does know what Reign is then the question becomes how likely it is that she can just be paid off by Reign's enemies to spill the beans and provide evidence or work as a double agent. Francesca is naturally suspicious of people whose loyalty is purely to money because there's always people willing to pay more.
But this all sounds like good roleplay fodder to me, and it is likely that Francesca would make a point of working with her to try and get a read on her in person. I'd be very happy to set up a mission to explore this if you'd like!
1) Yseult doesn't know she has worked for Reign and instead thinks she works for various individuals or shell companies. She's a useful asset, given her capabilities, but ultimately she's still an outsider, and an expensive one at that. Though she might have some suspicions, she doesn't care enough to investigate. As long as she gets paid, she isn't going to look the gift horse in the mouth.
2) Yseult doesn't have a single loyal bone in her body. If she were to somehow find out enough about Reign, she would happily sell information or double agent work to the highest bidder. This could be a point of conflict between them in the future.
