BIOGRAPHY

Mei-Lin was born into a single parent household with just a mother to look for guidance and assistance in under the name Mei Tategami. Throughout she had never understood as to why her father wasn't around for most of her life as in her eyes it made it seem as if Mei was unlovable. Despite this however the girl's mother, Asuka, did all she could and more in order to make sure her daughter had somewhat of a good life. Coming from such a surreal and tranquil setting, that being the Nara prefecture, Mei grew to love nature and the freedom of being outside, she'd always create her own little adventures when going exploring through the many shrines or bamboo hidden builds lost in time.

The two didn't have the biggest house, largest harvest, powerful vehicles nor any immediate family members who would come to visit during the Sakura Season. Yet even without those things the duo were inseparable. There wasn't a time where she could recall not being pushed and motivated, if somehow deprived of the plentiful teachings from Asuka she never would've learned how to fish, garden, fight, be calm and collected or even having the confidence in herself to do whatever she wished. Asuka taught her that in this world she would need to be understanding of any and all types of issues, there would be moments that ideals or opinions would clash nonetheless opposing viewpoints still needed to be heard. Mei-Lin showed zero signs of being an arrogant person so adhering to these specifics couldn't have been an issue, it was the sheer fact that these feelings wouldn't be reciprocated. Such was the cruel realism of the world they lived in. From the young age of four she was educated on a plethora of topics in turn shaping her mind into a hardened yet malleable structure as odd as that might've seemed, Asuka's goal was to let Mei truly flourish by forever pouring the love and purity into the child, allowing for a comprehension that this world though damaged beyond belief was in dire need of a torchbearer to lead its people the right way. It was on Mei-Lin's eleventh birthday that she would take vow to become that very pathfinder.

From the ages of twelve through fifteen Asuka would go onto to teach Mei more about her heritage as well as training her physical body to match the level of her already immaculate mental fortitude. This change in pace came from the sudden manifestation of Mei-Lin's superpower, from a discussion with Asuka detailing just how powerful her father and how it could be seen as a "blessing in disguise" Mei's only tie to her father being their abilities. Countless days and nights rolled over as the two would go through thickets of bamboo, traversing the labyrinth of greenery to arrive at one of their shrines known as "Tategami Tower". Harboring brilliantly crafted weapons coming from ancient times, withered scrolls and tomes belonging to their ancestors and intricately designed statues adorned with kanji and colorful necklaces.

The Tower became a safe haven for her even when not accompanied by her mother, she'd frequently bask in the sunlight educating herself about the maidens before her who had made their mark on this world through strength and willpower alone, it amazed the girl to learn that her mother's side of the family were true born warriors graced by the Gods, literally, she was enlightened on the history of her ancestors and how they received their powers. An age old tradition within the Tategami House ensured the women of the family would bring forth righteousness and astounding power, this came from the practice of shamanism in contacting the Gods themselves and pledging eternal allegiance to them.

The first woman to be crowned a Tategami was sealed with the mark of Fujin brandishing her new engraving to her fellow sister's, this occurence was back in the early 1800s where their practicing wasn't too frowned upon as it was nowadays. Hearing that the Gods themselves allowed for members of her family to become Avatars was unbelievably enriching, however it wasn't as simple as her mother made it out to be. In actuality this gift could only be passed onto the daughters of a Tategami, should an Avatar perish before she is able to pass on the seal to her offspring that will cut the line immediately effectively ending the link between that spirit and it's possessor. Not to mention that powers are incredibly volatile due to their source being primordial, its control and mastery come at a great cost. Asuka explained it as a contract in clearer terms and terminating it came randomly. Before she could ask her mother if she too carried such a burden she was whacked with bamboo and told to focus.

On the day of her sixteenth birthday the grass couldn't have been greener, she was in high spirits due to it finally being time for her to take up a specified training regime with her aunt in Tokyo, being one of the heroes for that prefecture Asuka thought it best she fully immerse herself in the differences of city life as well as being in the company of family other than herself. Her favorite meals laid out before her, udon noodles, yakiniku, okonomiyaki and soba decorated vividly and smelling powerful. It was truly the little things that counted when it came to her love for Asuka. The two spent the day at the tower and etched their names into a child and mother effigy, talking until it hit nighttime and her departure was near. With her birthday coming to a close she got ready to leave with all of her bags packed and a heartwarming smile and tearful gaze coming from Asuka. They embraced and Mei left the lit room speeding off into the darkness. But something felt off within her, just as she had reached the halfway point arriving in Shinshiro she felt a dastardly tremor, looking back whence she came she was stuck in utter shock for a brief moment.

A large explosion had erupted from Nara due to the tremendous power of a fight caused by the hero Conquer and the villain Mistress V, by the time she had arrived back home the village was up in flames and the bamboo forestry was alight with the screams of the damned. Her only worry was her mother so with that she scoured the immediate area in search of her still holding onto the hope that she was alive, though it seemed everywhere she looked was vacant or already scorched. All but the Tower. With a burst of speed coming from Mei she clocked onto her mothers broken body underneath some rubble, blood ran from her head and legs clearly losing consciousness. Not much would be said aside from a gesture from Asuka beckoning Mei to come closer, they both knew time was of the essence yet under these circumstances Mei couldn't help but cry and pray that her mother would make it back to her. Asuka shook her head slowly and muttered barely audible incantations and mustered the energy to bring together her hands in a specific sealing method, sending the seal across her daughter's right eye before passing out from exhaustion.

Fast forward five more years our young Tategami became close with her Aunt Tsuya and her daughter Kira, without her mother's guiding light she felt lost still and that day brought forth her intense dislike for the hero community. Information was released to her that Conquer was instructed to bring the battle to a less populated area for damage control, upon realizing just how flawed the judicial system was as well as the God complex the heroes seemed to possess fueled her ever-growing rage even more. Had Conquer simply handled the situation more efficiently there would be no pain and trauma to be inflicted, had he been judged correctly she'd feel better knowing he was punished. Though of course as a hero he was pardoned for this commended for his ability to effectively diffuse the felon and allowed to resume his duties. This world possessed a severe incurable sickness, without taking the right steps to properly purify they would be stuck in this cycle of revenge, distress and fear.

Beside this fact, Mei would always give homage to one specific hero, her aunt Tsuya. Thankful for her teachings in multiple combat forms in addition to enhancing her natural marksmanship, being the bridge between a Tategami and a speedster Mei learnt how to balance her majestic powers with one another to ensure she would become the legend she set out to be. Before she left the establishment Tsuya believed it time to reveal to the now woman who her father was. Nobu Nakamura. A name not many would say so easily in fear of what could've happened should it be mentioned with distate, further inspection into her dad made that little spark in her heart reignite again in the notion of having someone to talk to. Even though Mei hadn't met nor seen so much as a picture of Nobu her whole life, she still decided that she would find him and question him down to the core, with that in mind taking his last name would be a call out to him should her actions gain enough traction. With clear objectives in mind she decided to act fast and in doing so killed both Conquer and Mistress V, in secret she had been concocting a plan to take them out without making too much noise, still what better way to call out the world's wrongs than to blatantly display them. Conquer got literally 'ran through' on his way to his adoring fans outside the central train station spraying them with his blood and guts and Mistress V had her severely burnt head placed on the doorstep of a nightclub known to be an undercover hideout. This message was sent to both the hero and villain societies as she made her mark in this universe. Reign picked up notice of her actions and proceeded with caution, having such a powerhouse as her as an asset would be divine intervention if they've ever seen it. Despite her standpoint on the world she willingly accepted their invitation and shortly after forged her own team within it's cell, Pandemonium. This would start the tale of Mei-Lin Nakamura.

✰ Super Speed [break]

Being blessed as an avatar of Raijin was one thing but possessing the highly sought after ability of super speed was its own wonder. Mei-Lin has managed to make this power her own throughout the years constantly experimenting with what she had at her disposal, able to hit a target over a hundred times within a mere second, blaze across landscapes in minutes, seeing the world at snails pace whilst she herself seemed to be moving to fast for her own good. It's been recorded that her fastest speed has touched 300,000,000 m/s though she was only able to achieve such a brilliant display through boosting herself with Raijin's blessing. Due to having discovered her powers at a young age she was able to learn her limitations and work on the areas she lacked in, for example Mei could only touch 1,000 mph before she got exhausted and needed to rest for two days due to the strain of her legs. These limits weren't broken until she touched twenty-one because of her constant training on enduring the speeds, enhancing her stamina as well as multiple breathing techniques to aid the process. However, at her current stage she's able to exceed these previous restrictions touching 1,000,000 mph before she begins to succumb to such exhaustion and fatigue. Though she rarely goes that fast nor feels the need to, going that fast every day will eventually put a strain on both her upper and lower body. With that in mind she often prefers to go at a steadier speed without overdoing it. Moving forward, it was recently revealed that the reasoning behind her skin still being intact as well as her organs not oozing out of her body due to her incredible speeds was due to 'Raijin's blessing' a passive cloak of sorts that coats her body anytime she moves, protecting her from inertia and all of the negatives that would come from moving so fast.

Subpower Name: Enhanced Metabolism -
Further inspection into her abilities and the traits that she gained Mei understood that she had what many called an accelerated metabolism, which explained as to why she rarely if at all got ill or her injuries would last a few days or a week at most depending on the severity. Though somethings telling her that she's unable to regenerate lost limbs, something she'd rather not test.

Subpower Name: Invisible Speed - Mei is able to move so fast her movements instantly become shrouded rendering her invisible to the naked eye. Seeing her at such speeds would require a person's reception from the brain and vision to work in tandem perfectly as well as tracking an enhanced burst of movement.[break][break]
X - Needs to be moving beforehand, cannot just take a step and become invisible. [break][break]
Subpower Name: Afterimage Creation - Again, due to her pace of moving Mei can create afterimages of where she once was or could potentially be. Though they don't last long (no more than five seconds) they appear incredibly realistic often baffling even skilled illusionists.[break][break]

Subpower Name: Flash Step - Another technique that's made possible by her training, using a small burst of speed she's able to essentially teleport a short distance (maximum 50m) though she's not really teleporting it confuses many due to the sudden speed. Mei normally utilizes this technique to maneuver at the high speeds, dodge various projectiles or even getting away from a battle should a strategic retreat be deemed necessary. Contrary to popular belief this instant launch doesn't cause any shock or disturbance to the surface she was on because of her constant use of the ability, she's learned to be soft footed which normally helps with assassinations or other dastardly deeds.

Subpower Name: Molecular Oscillation - The most recently discovered trait of hers being able to vibrate her molecules at an immensely fast speed, this can often result in a plethora of things most commonly being the amount of punches/kicks and their speed/force. Further capabilities being causing severe internal damage to an opponent(s), destabilize molecules into a shaped charge capable of explosions varying in size due to the object, phasing through anything and allowing herself cut/split atoms as she sees fit essentially disrupting those who are intangible or encased in some sort of defensive manner should they cross paths. X - Can only use this move three times in a day before her own molecules begin to destabilize, which often results in her getting the shakes for hours. [break][break]

The greatest gift a girl could have. Mei-Lin's primordial lightning generation comes from being blessed with a connection to the God of Lightning Raijin, thus granting her an abundance of different specializations branching from the lightning within her and elsewhere. It's been noted that this specific branch of lightning was so old, so ancient it's only record was at the start of the universe. The Gods of old granted their abilities to certain vessels they deemed worthy enough to carry their power, most often the vessels were said to be such beings of incredulous power they could alone destroy the very world they inhabited through its misuse. Because of it's prehistoric strength it knows no limits thus making it stronger than average lightning tamers, though it will reach a stalemate or just barely overpower those with holy connotations. The terrifying force and power of such an ability is enough to rearrange landscapes, tear apart cities and strike fear into any god-fearing man. Though she prefers to stick to her natural ability of superspeed she won't hesitate to break out the big guns should the situation call for it, despite the vast power bestowed upon her simply generating this primordial lightning takes a large portion of energy from her currently limiting this usage to twice a day. The lightning bolts emitted from either her mouth, hands or the sky itself holds enough power to level the playing field depending on how she uses it. If she goes past the barrier of usage she runs the risk of completely obliterating her body both internally and externally, this is because of said power linking back to direct Gods/Goddesses essentially its comparing the vitality and strength of a mortal to a higher being, the difference there being clear already. Funnily enough Mei has managed to find a way around this weakness in that she can generate a sufficient amount of lightning to further enhance her speed/strength and reflexes simply by adding it to her natural reserves. Even though the energy input is significantly reduced the fatigue after hits her like a truck. [break][break]

Subpower Name: Primordial Lightning Aura - This trait is more of a passive ability than your standard action one, subconsciously utilizing Raijin's energy Mei can protect herself from the harmful products of speed usage. This stretches more into a constantly active ability once she begins moving (will cease if exiting super speed) gifting her a twosome of stimuli, electroreception and electrical regeneration. With her reception at this current stage can only sense the weak bioelectric fields generated by living beings and uses it to locate them. These electric fields are generated by everything living due to the activity of their nerves and muscles. In regards to the regeneration aspect she can effectively speed up her already enhanced metabolism to work even faster should certain conditions be met.[break][break]

X - Absolutely has to be generating the lightning around her person at a steady rate, should it fluctuate the aura will dissipate. [break][break]
X - People with the ability to absorb electricity/lightning may be able to stop this quirk from being active, though due to the primordial link it will be a strain on both user and the "absorb-er" [break][break]

✽ Marksmanship [break][break]

Growing up under her aunt's tutelage gave her many skills she'd need for the world today and one of those were her exceptional marksmanship. This paired with her augmented speed ensures she can hit a target exactly where she wants to x amount of times. She's trained with numerous firearms notably handguns and tactical assault rifles, her training with her mother enabled access to using the bow and arrow for more precise angling as well as knife-work. She's able to hit a clean shot from the air, at night and even under stressed circumstances such as a busy street during rush hour or even shooting from cover. She carries a 15' hunting knife on her person and her trusty Glock 18C gifted to her by Tsuya. [break]

Fighting styles were drummed into her as soon as she became her aunt's responsibility. Currently, Mei-Lin has fully mastered four different martial forms those being as listed; Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Taekwondo & Judo. These styles differ quite a bit from one another and it's their versatility that have caused the woman to fall in love with the styling. Mostly opting to directly assault those who'd rather stand against her than with her. [break][break]

Mei-Lin wouldn't be where she is today without her prowess in talking to people, finding out their weaknesses be it mental or physical, appealing to them in any way she could if not for her skill in manipulating. She's capable of coaxing people to do things that they might not of even thought on, easily able to make them think, feel and act without a shred of notice. Mei's one to often change a subject and leave subliminal messages laced throughout her speech, in fact her exceptional talent in this field is so good she can have others fight and bicker or drown their settings with discord and unease that even when exposed, she can still amass a following of supporters or fall back on alternative plan. Such is the talent of Mei-Lin Nakamura. She outshines all when it comes to breaking friendships, or even just causing unrest via her manipulating the nature of society, individuals, or the system.
