[attr="class","monbody2"] Francine had been keeping away from the city of Wayport. Too many people here knew her name and her face, and it was much too close to Aegis headquarters. But she had to come back eventually; egged on by her paranoia as she'd poured over files in a run down motel halfway across the country she'd found an Aegis office she was certain was under Reign's influence. Tucked away at the beautiful beach, an unassuming office building that supposedly held simple office records. Why have a whole separate building?
Why hide it from the official record? Only a few days of digging in to the scarce information she had and her mind was already whirling towards the deadly conclusion.
All she had to do was take them out and she could find out who had been compromised by Reign. She had to. There was no other choice; she couldn't allow her friends to be manipulated in to serving bad guys so easily! Like a streak of light she burst on to the scene. It was late afternoon, the golden glow of the setting sun masking the sight of her streaking through the air. They noticed pretty quickly that Radiance had arrived when a thick beam of golden light punched a hole through the ceiling, concrete shattering in to a cloud of tiny particles under the force of her plasma. The handful of office interns shouted in fear and bolted for the door, but she wasn't after them.
Less than insects really compared to the prize she was after. She kept an eye on the door as she strode over to the still logged on computer and entered in her search query; a codename and a string of characters she'd memorized over the course of a sleepless night. In and out, just like she planned...
Of course these things only happened when she was around. Of course they only happened when she was the one doing routine paperwork.
Sarah had been finishing up in the washroom when it had happened. When she heard the explosion, she’d rushed out – it was apparent from the hole in the wall that they’d entered through the ceiling. Wonderful – a flyer up against a close-combat specialist.
She’d managed to wrestle up the general direction of the attacker from a panicked intern. Sarah had sped off with a kick in her stride – this’d be simple enough. Or at least it would’ve been, had Sarah not recognized exactly who was invading. Who wouldn’t?
Of course she had to be faced with this woman on this day, of all days. Still, Sarah braced herself – she didn’t enter this business to take calculated risks.
“Radiance!” Sarah said, assuming a combat stance. “What the Hell is going on here?”
