BIOGRAPHY
Born to a rich family of actors and performers, Lily Walker was guaranteed a life of ease and luxury. Unfortunately, such life easily leads to boredom and rebellion. The young girl coasted through school with average grades and countless detentions. She was more keen on throwing parties and getting into trouble than actually studying. What little interest she had in books was mostly towards horror and silly occult things, both of which were trendy among her rebellious friends. They influenced her choice in attire and tattoos too. She would jokingly insist she was a witch, so she needed to look the part.[break][break]
When the young lady was finally old enough to drink legally, she naturally took it way overboard. She and a couple of her friends made a drunken bet on who could climb the highest before anyone called the cops. Tempting fate went exactly as well as one might expect. At the age of twenty-one, Lily Walker died in an accident.[break][break]
Shortly after the untimely demise, strange rumors and sightings started circulating in the city. Many claimed to have seen an eerily familiar woman standing at the edge of a certain rooftop, laughing madly. When approached, she would plummet down and vanish into thin air. Similar stories popped up all around the city. Thus the urban legend of The Laughing Lady was born. Thanks to the internet, the legend spread across the world through seedy forums. People would insist they had really seen her after chanting her name three times into a mirror. Most regard it all as just a silly, little tale.[break][break]
Nowadays The Laughing Lady, formerly Lily Walker, clings to the world of the living as a genuine ghost. She spends her days scaring people witless and generally causing chaos wherever she may appear. Due to her nature, some classify her as a villain, others as a pest. Personally she doesn’t care about labels. People can call her whatever they like as long she gets to have fun.[break][break]
CHARACTER POWERS
✰ GHOST PHYSIOLOGY [break]
Ghost Physiology [break][break]
Lily is a ghost and as such enjoys all the spooky powers associated with them. First of all, she is already dead. As such, she has stopped aging, needs no sustenance and is effectively immortal. In its true form, her soul is a weightless, invisible and intangible wisp of ectoplasm. She can give herself a visible and corporeal body if she so chooses. As the body is created out of ectoplasm, she can adjust its size and appearance at will. In addition, she can possess inanimate objects, including shadows, and make them move as if they had a mind of their own.[break][break]
X - Lily’s greatest weakness is psychic powers. Since she is essentially just a blob of ectoplasm held together by sheer willpower, mental abilities hit her hard.[break][break]
X - Her second major weakness is salt. Regular table salt suffices. In small amounts, she finds it annoying and disruptive to her powers. Larger and more concentrated amounts can stop her completely. For example, if there is a thick, unbroken line of salt on the floor, she cannot cross it.[break][break]
Intangibility: Being composed completely of ectoplasm, she can pass through physical matter. This allows her to harmlessly move through most obstacles, attacks and even people.[break][break]
X - She cannot move through barriers and attacks created through psychic powers. Lining a wall or a container with a layer of salt will also keep her out.[break][break]
Invisibility: In her natural state, she is invisible to the naked eye and most electronic devices.[break][break]
X - Any form of true sight or supernatural sense can spot her. She also shows up in thermal vision as a cold spot of exactly 0 degrees celsius.[break][break]
Immortality: She has stopped aging and can’t die on the account of being already dead.[break][break]
X - Her soul can still be trapped or temporarily banished, until she breaks free or pulls herself back together.[break][break]
Energy Independence: She doesn’t need to eat, sleep or breathe.[break][break]
X - Using her abilities still requires willpower and mental stamina. If either is exhausted, the majority of her abilities weaken and eventually stop working until she gets to rest.[break][break]
Illusory Appearance: She is able to assume any kind of appearance she wishes, from a tiny chibi creature size to something out of a horror movie.[break][break]
X - Any form of true sight or clairvoyance can see through the illusion. Enhanced senses can notice inconsistencies in the illusion.[break][break]
Object Possession: She can stuff her soul into an inanimate object and manipulate it within the limits of how it actually works. If she possesses a shadow, she can change its size and shape.[break][break]
X - If the object gets destroyed or the shadow vanishes, she is forced out of it.[break][break]
↣ TELEKINESIS [break]
TELEKINESIS [break][break]
As a byproduct of Lily’s ghostly form and strong will, she is able to manipulate inanimate objects with her mind. Most commonly she makes objects levitate to move them around or to hurl at enemies. She can also force simple movements onto matter that lacks a solid form, such as creating a gust of wind by pushing air.[break][break]
X - She cannot manipulate anything that has a living soul.[break][break]
Levitation: She can lift inanimate objects and move them around with her mind.
[break][break]
X - Her power is limited by the combined weight of the objects she is trying to move at once, capping out at 200 kg.[break][break]
Push/Pull: She is able to push or pull matter, even things that aren’t solid.
[break][break]
X - Her launching power is comparable to what an average adult can throw. The force diminishes rapidly when throwing bigger things.[break][break]
Flight: By applying levitation to herself, she is able to fly.
[break][break]
X - Her top speed is around 20 km/h, a little above average running speed.[break][break]
↣ TELEPORTATION [break]
TELEPORTATION [break][break]
By vanishing into what Lily calls the purgatory and returning back into reality, she can cross long distances in a matter of moments. She possesses either a shadow or a mirror, disappears and soon pops out from another shadow or mirror. Short distances are quicker to teleport than long distances, seconds as opposed to minutes. She is able to take one other person with her by pulling them into the same mirror or shadow she enters.[break][break]
X - She needs to have a good idea of where she is going, such as a recent photo or having been there before.[break][break]
X - Her teleportation can be interrupted by disrupting the shadow or breaking the mirror before she can fully enter it.[break][break]
X - Teleporting other people requires OOC consent and IC cooperation.[break][break]
